I crouched on the rooftop, flipping open my notebook with a flick of my wrist. The dim city lights illuminated the pages as I scanned through my list. The drone hovered beside me, capturing every little detail. I knew people were watching. Let them.
I exhaled through my nose, tapping my pen against the page. Alright. Who's still in?
Class 1-B? Erased.
The so-called villains? Barely doing their job.
That left the heroes. Or, well, the supposed heroes.
I trailed my finger down my notes. The eliminated:
Bakugo. Gone.
Yaoyorozu. A big brain out of the game? Good. Less of a headache for me and less brainpower for them.
Hagakure. Predictable. She had no offensive power to hold out on her own plus she was not a good fellow villain.
Uraraka. Still annoyed about that one. I had wanted to deal with her myself.
Denki. I grinned. That one had been personal.
Mina and Sero. Oh, they had been fun. A shame Aizawa eliminated them before I could go all out.
Todoroki.
I clicked my tongue, irritation bubbling in my chest. He had it coming. How dare he steal Uraraka's kill from me?!
That left the remaining survivors.
Iida. Tokoyami. Sato. Shoji. Ojiro. Jirou.
And, of course, the real wildcard—Kirishima.... plus extras.
I ran a hand through my hair, sighing. Why were they all still here?
I had made sure at the very start that the villains had no room to breathe. I had been so loud, so overwhelming, that they hadn't had a single chance to make their move.
Which meant—
I smirked.
"They never trusted each other, did they?" I murmured, just loud enough for the drone to pick up.
I straightened up, stretching my arms behind my head. "That explains it. That's why the villains didn't take anyone out. Class 1-A was too busy suspecting each other to let their guard down. No wonder the villains never had a proper shot at them."
I turned to the drone, pointing at it. "Tell me, does that make me the best villain here? Because honestly, I think I deserve some credit."
I placed a hand on my chest, feigning humility. "I mean, look at the results. I crippled Class 1-B before they even had a chance to strategize. I left the villains so disorganized they never once eliminated a hero. And now, here I am, standing among the last few remaining while everyone else is scrambling to figure out what's even happening."
I grinned wider.
"That's talent."
I snapped my notebook shut. "But I suppose we can't let the fun end here, right?"
I tucked my book away and surveyed the streets below. The remaining heroes were somewhere out there, probably looking for me.
Or maybe, just maybe—
"They're waiting for me to come to them," I muttered, eyes narrowing.
I laughed under my breath.
"Well, then," I said, stepping onto the edge of the rooftop, "who am I to keep them waiting?"
With that, I leapt off into the night.
I landed silently in a shadowed alley, my body moving on autopilot as I weaved through the narrow pathways of the city. The streets were too quiet.
My instincts screamed at me. Someone's nearby.
I ducked behind a pile of crates, pressing myself into the darkness. My hand twitched toward my pocket, feeling the remaining grenades.
Three left.
Not much, but enough to make someone regret their choices.
I exhaled, letting my eyes scan the area. There—movement on the rooftop across from me.
I crouched lower, eyes narrowing. Tokoyami. He was patrolling, watching for any threats.
Smart.
I could take him out now, but that wasn't what I wanted. No, I needed to know how many of them were working together.
I moved silently, weaving through the backstreets, until I found my real target.
Kirishima.
He was standing at a crossroads, arms crossed, eyes sharp. He wasn't alone. Ojiro stood beside him, scanning the area like a guard dog.
I grinned. Interesting.
So they were teaming up.
I leaned against the wall and whispered to the drone, "Hey, tell me, does this look like heroic behavior to you?"
The drone, of course, didn't respond.
I scoffed. "No answer? Figures. Let's be real, heroes don't usually hunt down other heroes. But look at them. Look how paranoid they are. I wonder... Do they even trust each other anymore?"
I glanced at the sky. "They should be thanking me, honestly. I gave them the perfect test of trust, and look at them failing spectacularly."
I pushed off the wall, stretching. "Well, no sense in waiting around. Let's see how much I can break them before they break me."
I walked out into the street, hands in my pockets, smiling lazily.
Kirishima tensed the moment he saw me, eyes narrowing. Ojiro stepped forward, fists clenched.
"Midoriya," Kirishima greeted cautiously. "You're still in the game?"
I shrugged. "What can I say? People keep forgetting to eliminate me."
Ojiro's tail twitched. "You shouldn't be here."
I tilted my head. "Should I not? Because, see, I was going to focus on Kaminari next, but then I saw you two sneaking around like little spies, and I had to investigate."
Their reactions were immediate. Kirishima's stance shifted, more defensive. Ojiro's eyes sharpened.
I laughed. "Oh? Did I hit a nerve? You two are up to something, aren't you?"
Kirishima exhaled through his nose. "We're making sure Kaminari's actually playing his role. You can't blame us for being careful."
I snickered. "Oh, that's adorable. You really don't trust him, do you?"
Ojiro crossed his arms. "You wouldn't understand."
I placed a hand over my heart. "Oh, but I do understand. In fact, I understand so well that I almost feel bad for the poor guy."
I let my hand drop, grinning. "But it doesn't matter, does it? Because at the end of the day, I'm still the biggest threat here. And you two? You're just another set of obstacles in my way."
I reached into my pocket, pulling out a grenade. Not a real one—just one of the fake explosives packed with smoke and dye.
But they didn't know that.
Both of them reacted instantly. Kirishima hardened his skin, stepping in front of Ojiro. Ojiro's tail flicked, ready to counter.
I smirked, tossing the grenade up and catching it. "So, what's it gonna be, gentlemen? Do we talk this out, or do I make things really interesting?"
Kirishima gritted his teeth. "You're insane."
I winked. "That's what makes me fun."
I pulled the pin.
