It's Always Been You // Sasuke x Oc

Their last "class" at the academy was quick. Teams were assigned and they were dismissed for lunch with a plan after lunch to meet with their team leader. Ame and Sasuke were assigned to team 7 along with Sakura and Naruto. Although neither Sasuke or Ame cared much for Sakura or Naruto, they would be lying if they said they weren't glad to be on a team together. Any fears Ame had of them drifting apart were almost immediately squashed knowing they would start off together.

Before Ame could discuss their good fortune with Sasuke, he ran off to eat lunch on his own. Ame worried he was still upset about his "joke" earlier, but ultimately decided to give him his space. And so, Ame ate lunch alone. It was peaceful, Ame had learned to appreciate some time alone, especially after Sasuke grew an affinity for it himself. Ame knew they would never be alone for long, even if Sasuke wanted that, they would always find their way back to each other. It was poetic really.

But Ame didn't have any more time to ponder that. Just as he was finishing his lunch, Sakura came up to him. Ame wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she wanted to get to know each other now that they would be on a team together. The was Sakura looked at him though made Ame doubt that.

"Hey, Ame?" Sakura started.

It wasn't just a greeting, Sakura said it with intent to say more. At least she sort of asked before just going on with whatever she needed. Ame smiled at her in acknowledgment, motioning for her to sit on the bench next to him, and giving her time to speak whatever she wanted to say.

"You're really close with Sasuke. And well..." She trailed off.

Ame sighed, it really was always Sasuke with her. I guess he couldn't really talk, it was always Sasuke with him too, even if it was slightly different.

"I was just wondering, what does he think of me? Has he ever said that he was interested in a girl like me?" She said, gaining her volume and confidence back as she spoke.

No. Sasuke had never said he was interested in a girl like Sakura. In fact he has said the exact opposite of that, but Ame couldn't just tell her that. If she actually took it to heart it would break Sakura to hear the boy she liked didn't have any interest in her whatsoever.

'Then again, maybe it would get her to move on from Sasuke...' Ame though.

He wasn't sure if he was thinking that with genuine care for Sakura, wanting her to move on for her, or for his own selfish reasons. He shook his head, physically shaking off the thoughts. He couldn't do that to Sakura, especially if it was only because he was being selfish.

And just like an angel from the heavens Sasuke appeared.

"Why don't you ask him yourself!" Ame spoke quickly.

Sasuke was finally in Sakura's line of sight, which lead her to light up. But something was off with Sasuke. He was looking straight at Sakura, not even sparing a glance at Ame. Sasuke didn't speak to either of them when he stoped in front of them, just stared directly at Sakura.

"Oh Sasuke! I was—" Sakura cut herself off with a giggle.

Her girlish joy quickly faded when she shot Ame a glare.

"Get out of here Ame!"

'Oh.' Ame thought. He should have seen that coming Sakura took every chance she got to be alone with Sasuke and that very often meant kicking Ame out. Ame, again in an effort to not cause trouble, got up and stared to move away. Giving one last glance at Sasuke, who was still not looking at him, and left.
