thirty-one!

A notification cut through the quiet of the morning, jolting Beo Ran out of sleep. She groggily reached for her phone, squinting against the brightness of the screen.

Jiwoooo: wakey wakey, it's Seoul day!!!!

Beo Ran exhaled through her nose, rolling onto her back as she processed the words. Right. The study group exchange. They were only staying in Seoul for the day, but still, it was Seoul.

With a sigh, she sat up, rubbing her face before dragging herself out of bed. Her body felt sluggish from last night's exhaustion. Her mind was still cluttered too, tangled up in everything that had happened with Han Wool.

She shook it off. Not now.

Dragging herself to the bathroom, she turned on the sink, splashing cold water onto her face. The shock of it woke her up more than Ji Woo's text did. She brushed her teeth, washed up, and tied her hair back while deciding what to do with it later.

Back in her room, she stood in front of her open closet, eyes scanning the rows of neatly hung clothes. Seoul wasn't just some random place, it was Seoul.

She needed to dress accordingly.

After a moment of thought, she pulled out a fitted black turtleneck and tucked it into a pair of high-waisted, slightly loose beige trousers. Over that, she grabbed her cropped leather jacket, letting the sleek black material drape effortlessly over her shoulders.

For shoes, she chose her black ankle boots with a slight heel, comfortable enough to walk around in but stylish enough to pull the outfit together. Simple gold hoop earrings, a delicate ring on her finger, and a subtle touch of makeup, just enough to enhance her features without looking like she was trying too hard.

Looking at herself in the mirror, she adjusted her jacket and gave a small nod of approval. This works.

She slung her bag over her shoulder and grabbed her phone. She almost took a picture to send it to Han Wool, because that's what she always did whenever she'd dress up, but then she stopped and opened Ji Woo's text messages instead.

On my way.

A response came almost immediately.

Jiwoooo: Hurryyyy Se Hyeon's too excited! I can't deal with him alone!

Beo Ran snorted, shaking her head before stepping out of her room.

Downstairs, the house was quiet. Her parents had already left for work, but Kang Dae was still home, lazily eating a bowl of cereal at the kitchen counter. He looked up as she walked past.

"You're actually going outside?" he said, voice dripping with fake surprise. "Wow. I thought you lived in your room since last night."

Beo Ran rolled her eyes, reaching over to ruffle his hair just to annoy him. "Why are you home? Don't you have school?"

Kang Dae swatted her hand away with a glare. "Ugh, don't touch me."

"Don't burn the house down while I'm gone."

"No promises," Kang Dae called back.

With that, she stepped outside, letting the crisp morning air hit her as she pulled her jacket tighter around herself.
