"Please, just trust me, just this once. Like the old times?" he asked. Realizing that Jane was basically in danger and that he couldn't reach her in time if Knockout were to kill her, he accepted the offer. "In one condition," stated Wildfire. The other 'con waited patiently for him to continue, "We're letting Jane go, unharmed." The 'con looked like he wanted to refuse but for his old friend, he was willing to do such things. He'll certainly get a long scolding from his lord about not letting humans run free, but he couldn't care less. Heck, even someone as selfish as Wildfire feels guilty for taking advantage of his old friend but he pushed that feeling aside. It may be true that Breakdown was the only 'con who'd treat vehicons as an equal and that he appreciates him for that but now, they're on different sides of the war, one being a decepticon while the other remains neutral. But now, this is about self-preservation, not friendship. As long as Jane was safe, he could die in the hands of Megatron if needed. (I know, he definitely has trauma behind this :) )
. . .
The halls of the Nemesis were expectedly dark. The tension was heavy and thick. He could feel the gaze of the vehicons working as they passed them. He wanted to free them, to show them that they weren't to just be enslaved. They deserved the option, the will to choose, to choose for freedom or to stay. Freedom is the right of all sentient beings. That's something he agrees with Optimus about. When the time comes, he will free them.
Time seems to pass inconsiderably. It felt like it was only a few seconds before they reached the tyrant's throne. Megatron was sitting on his throne comfortably, his crimson red eyes never showing a hint of sympathy. "Ah... Look who's back. Why are you here? Perhaps you've come to realize that humans are truly lost causes, have you not?" questioned the warlord. The bot had to hold back a grimace from the comment about humans. He truly believed that yes, he's sorta naïve for thinking that humans can still obtain salvation from the underlying danger on Earth, but that does not mean that they're completely hopeless. He'd seen numerous humans who are always willing to put their lives on the line for their loved ones. He respects that but he also has to admit that some humans are better off dead.
"I was only there to infiltrate their ranks. I knew that despite the fact that my lord has blasted me out of the Nemesis in space, it could be a great way to make some sad backstory to convince them that I'm on your side. I'd be lying if I said that I truly stayed loyal to the cause. However, I was constantly looking for the opportunity to return to your side of the war. Unfortunately, I had to always pretend to be protective of Miss Darby. She is after all the one to make me evade N.E.S.T on multiple occasions. It would be suspicious if I just left her or killed her," Wildfire explained. The number of lies he had there were too many to count but there was also a good amount of truth in there too. He wanted to mislead the warmonger and keep him in circles after all, and lies need truth to make it convincing.
His eyes trail off to the standby Soundwave just standing there, staring at him menacingly. The Third In Command doesn't speak, yet still is capable of many things that will scare the living spark in anyone. "Got trapped here too? Or on a heist?" was spit out of the bot's recordings. "Ah, that was when Miss Darby stayed late at a museum of sorts. She was planning to leave but was caught up by the Autobots' pesky humans' mess," explained the bot. Megatron looked rather skeptical, especially with Wildfire calling the human 'Miss Darby'. Wildifre, realizing this slaps himself internally.
'Yo Wildfire, can you hear me?' Jane's voice came out of his mind-link. He curses in his head before responding, 'Jane, I'm in the middle of an occurrence that could possibly end my life if I screw up and I'd rather not die yet.' came out of the speakers.
He curses under his breath yet again. He completely forgot about the existence of the third party. This is exactly why he doesn't use the mind-link often. "Now, now, now, it has certainly been a while since your presumed death, Ravage?" he praises. The lock on Wildfire detached itself and transformed into a cyber-cat though smaller. The ex-vehicon collapsed.
