SIDDARTH POV
As Arya and I entered the auction hall, I couldn't help but admire the elegant decorations. Chandeliers hung from the ceiling, casting a warm, golden glow across the room, which was filled with attendees dressed in their finest attire. We made our way to our reserved seats in the first row and settled down.
Just as we took our seats, Eshan, who had been mysteriously absent until now, suddenly appeared and sat beside me.
"Eshan Bhai, where were you all this time?" Arya inquires, raising an eyebrow as she sat on my right side.
Eshan, looking both baffled and happy, glanced at her and said, "I was just exploring the art. After all, that's why we're here, isn't it?"
I eyed him suspiciously. "It doesn't seem like it to me," I remarked.
He smirked and looked at me. "Did you miss me that much, Sid?"
Before I could respond, Arya chimed in, "No, Eshan Bhai. He didn't have time for that. Bhaiya was too busy looking at someone."
"Arya, shut up. Don't speak nonsense," I snapped at her.
"KYAAAAA!!!" Eshan gasped dramatically, looking at me with an expression of mock betrayal. "Dushman na kare dost ne aisa kaam kiya hain," he started to sing, trying to hold my hand. I glared at him, and he quickly pulled his hand back.
("Not even an enemy would do what a friend has done.")
"Shut up!"
"Bhai, at least you could have told us that you've found our Bhabhi," he said in his most innocent voice. Both Arya and Eshan giggled.
"Both of you, shut up. Don't speak nonsense and concentrate on the auction," I glared both of them, trying to maintain my composure.
Before Eshan could say anything more, the auctioneer's voice boomed through the hall, commanding everyone's attention.
"Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention, please! Welcome to our prestigious art auction, where some of the most exquisite and unique pieces showcased at our exhibition are available for you to acquire. Tonight, you have the opportunity to take home a masterpiece that will undoubtedly become a cherished addition to your collection."
The room fell silent, all eyes on the auctioneer as he introduced the first piece up for bid. The anticipation was palpable in room.
Auctioneer:
"Our first item is a stunning landscape painting by the talented artist Meera Sinha. This piece, titled 'Whispers of Dawn,' captures the serene beauty of a sunrise over rolling hills. The starting bid for this magnificent work of art is $10,000."
The bids started rolling in. "Do I have 10,000? Yes, I see a bid for 10,000. Do I hear 11,000? Thank you. 15,000, anyone?"
I raised my paddle, and the auctioneer nodded in my direction. I knew someone would bid on this piece again. My intention wasn't actually to purchase the item but to artificially inflate the price. This was something so riveting.
