NO ONE POV  :

Big stood by the door of Kinn’s office, arms crossed, eyes sharp, scanning the surroundings like he always did. He was a bodyguard—nothing more, nothing less. His job was simple: protect Kinn. Keep him safe.

But some days, the job hurt more than a bullet to the chest.

Like today.

“Kinn, your schedule is clear for the rest of the night,” Big reported, his voice even, professional.

Kinn leaned back in his chair, tapping his fingers against the desk. His eyes flicked toward Big, but there was no weight to the gaze. Just another glance. Just another order.

“Good. Call Sun.”

Big stiffened, his fingers curling into his palm before he could stop himself.

“Sun?” he asked, though he already knew the answer.

Kinn raised an eyebrow, as if waiting for him to question it further. As if daring him.

“Yes, Sun. Tell him I’m in the mood tonight.”

The words were casual, effortless. Like it was nothing. Because for Kinn, it was nothing.

Big swallowed the bitter taste in his throat and nodded. “Understood.”

He turned away before his face could betray him. Before his emotions—those damn emotions—could surface. His grip on the phone tightened as he dialed the number, each ring slicing deeper into his patience.

“Hello?” came Sun’s smooth, teasing voice.

Big clenched his jaw. “Kinn wants to see you tonight.”

A chuckle. “Oh? Is he missing me already?”

Big didn’t answer. He couldn’t. Instead, he gave the necessary details and hung up, shoving the phone into his pocket like it burned.

He exhaled slowly. He should be used to this by now. But no matter how many nights passed like this—no matter how many times Kinn pulled him into this cruel cycle—it still tore him apart.

He knew his place. Just a bodyguard.

Nothing more.

So why did it still hurt so damn much? A tear dropped from his eyes.

---

Big stood outside the door.

He had been here before. Too many times. Standing guard, listening to muffled voices. Muffled laughter.

Tonight was no different.

Inside, Kinn was with Sun. The conversation had started light, but now, it had faded into something else. Something Big refused to listen to.

He clenched his fists, staring at the floor. He should walk away. But he couldn’t. His duty kept him here.

But his heart—his stupid, fragile heart—wanted to be anywhere but here.

Sun’s voice echoed through the walls. A teasing laugh. The sound of a shirt hitting the floor.

Big inhaled sharply, forcing himself to focus.

He was nothing to Kinn.

Just a bodyguard.

He needed to remember that.

ON OTHER HAND :

The ringing of an alarm echoed through a small, cramped apartment.

Porsche groaned, reaching out blindly until he smacked the clock off the nightstand. “Shit—”

“Hia, you’re late,” came Porchay’s sleepy voice from the other side of the room.

Porsche cracked one eye open to see his little brother curled up under a mountain of blankets, his messy hair sticking out like a bird’s nest.

“Yeah, yeah, I know,” Porsche muttered, sitting up and rubbing his face. He had barely slept. After working the late shift at the bar, he had come home just a few hours ago. But there was no time to rest.

He had a younger brother to take care of.

Porsche pushed himself up, stretching before heading to the tiny kitchen. The fridge was nearly empty, but he managed to scrape together some eggs and toast.

“Chay! Get up before your ass is late for school,” he called over his shoulder.

A groan. “Five more minutes…”

Porsche rolled his eyes, walking over and yanking the blanket off of Porchay.

“Hia!”

“Get up, lazy ass.” Porsche smirked, ruffling Chay’s hair.

Porchay pouted, but there was no real annoyance behind it. He sat up, rubbing his eyes. “Did you even sleep?”

Porsche waved him off. “I’m fine. Now hurry up and eat before I kick your ass out the door.”

Porchay huffed but listened, munching on his breakfast as he mumbled about school and music.

As much as Porsche nagged him, he was proud. Porchay was smart. Talented. He deserved a good life. A safe life.

Which was why Porsche worked himself to the bone every damn day.

He wasn’t going to let anything take that away from them.

Not now. Not ever

---

The bar was dimly lit, filled with smoke and the low hum of music.

Porsche wiped down the counter, exhausted from another long shift.

He wanted to go home. To check on Chay. To sleep for once.

But something felt… off.

His instincts screamed at him, but he couldn’t figure out why.

Until he saw it.

A man in the shadows, watching him.

Not drunk. Not here for a good time.

Watching.

Porsche’s grip tightened on the rag.

He had been careful all these years. Hadn’t gotten involved in anything dangerous.

But something told him…

That was about to change.
