IM BAACKKKKK 😝
__________So there I was barely settled in when, wouldn't you know it, a full-blown brawl erupted. And of course, it was all because I’d barely been around long enough in this house to escape that quirky static buzz in my left pinky toe every time I walked or whatever the fuck Jeff's reason was. I mean, really could there be a more inconvenient omen? And then there's Jane... Fuck.., Jane, you're too nice for your own good, yet somehow you're also so…
"unforgiving?" I muttered under my breath, confused by my own words. Forgiving? Unforgiving? Heck, who in their right mind could ever forgive an unapologetic, two-faced, cold-hearted little EGOTISTICAL ARROGANT BI—Before I could finish my thought, a voice cut through the madness:
"NAME?!"
I paused mid-rant. Did I just hear my name?
"NAME!!" the call boomed again, louder and with an insistence that left no room for ambiguity.
I couldn’t help but smirk. At least someone was paying attention—finally, a break from all that disease bullshit Seriously, I'm over it. I mean, really, what if I had a secret long-lost sibling lurking out there? Would they be called "Infection" or maybe even "Contiguous"? The absurdity of it all made me chuckle. X But before your thoughts could wander any deeper into the labyrinth of ridiculous puns and half-baked jokes, you snapped back into reality. You heard the voice again, and your heart skipped a beat, “YES?? WHO IS IT??” Your pulse quickened as you braced yourself, hoping- no praying this wasn’t another Nina situation. You know, one of those moments where you're trapped in a whirlwind of confusion, scrambling to figure out what the hell is going on.
And then, of course, you jinxed it. Because, in a split second, your door was busted down. A cloud of dust exploded into the room, a classic setup for some corny entrance. Out of the haze stepped a figure, their face partially obscured, though something about them seemed eerily familiar. It gnawed at the back of your mind, like a whisper you couldn’t quite place. You swore you had seen him before, but the more you looked, the less you could pinpoint it. His face was so strikingly unfamiliar, yet something about it felt...wrongly familiar, like a dream half-forgotten.
He wore a lab coat—a science-y, futuristic-looking coat that only added to his odd presence. And then he flashed a grin, one that was a little too wide, a little too...crazed. But despite the madness in his expression, there was something about him that felt...well, like he had good intentions. For now.
The man began to approach you, and within a breath—one single breath—he unloaded a verbal barrage that nearly blew your mind into the next dimension.
"HellonameorshouldIsaydiseaseImnotreallysureyetbutfornowI'mjustgonnacallyanamebythewaydoyouwannabemytestsubject?Waitnevermindyourwayt-"
You didn’t even give him a second to breathe.
“Okay, wait a minute…” you interrupted, your mind still spinning in confusion. “What’s your name?”
The man blinked, looked down at his coat, and then as if remembering something, his eyes lit up.
“It’s Coby! Name!” he beamed.
You gave a tight, half-smile. “Alrighty...Coby.” You chuckled nervously. “Heh...you know, I really do appreciate this...effort, whatever this is. But you really need to-”
You mimed zipping your lips shut with an exaggerated motion, emphasizing your point with an awkward yet playful gesture.
“Zip it,” you said, cutting the madness off before it could spiral further.
A strange silence hung in the air, as Coby stood there, blinking and then awkwardly shifting from foot to foot. He wasn’t upset, not exactly. But he sure wasn’t the smoothest when it came to social interactions. The silence lingered, stretching on until suddenly, with a flicker in the room, the temperature dropped, and you were hit with a chill that sank deep into your bones.
It wasn’t just cold, it was...wrong. Like the air itself was somehow warped.
And then, from the shadows, a figure emerged.
Her presence was undeniable. Sally. But not the Sally you remembered. The childlike innocence had drained from her, leaving nothing but a cold, eerie emptiness. The once gentle glow of her eyes was now a void—a blackness so deep, it swallowed everything. She moved forward slowly, the atmosphere turning even more oppressive as she did.
“Mr. Stuffles,” she rasped, her voice like ice scraping against stone. “Where is Mr. Stuffles?”
Your eyes widened, your heart now racing in a way you couldn’t ignore. What was happening? This wasn’t Sally anymore. This wasn’t even close to what you had known her to be. There was something far darker about her now.
And then you caught it—her words. Mr. Stuffles. Who was that? Why did she want them so badly? The air grew heavier, and your thoughts spiraled, a whirlwind of confusion and fear.
Why?
Why... me?
The dread swirled through your chest, suffocating, almost paralyzing. You could barely hold onto your sanity as the cold, haunting aura around Sally crawled under your skin.
But then, as if to cut through the tension like a knife, Coby sprang into action.
"Sally," he said, his voice suddenly much sharper, much more authoritative than before. His tone was firm, grounded, like a seasoned professional who knew exactly how to handle a situation like this.
Sally’s void-black eyes locked onto him. There was a flicker of recognition in them, or perhaps just a hint of confusion. But it didn’t stop her from slowly approaching, her movements were still slow, but deliberate.
Coby didn’t flinch. He met her gaze with unwavering resolve.
"You need to calm down, Sally,” he said, his voice now almost soothing, though it carried an underlying edge. "Mr. Stuffles isn’t here. He's with the operator, remember? You were getting distracted on missions again.”
Sally paused mid-step, her head tilting slightly as if trying to process his words. Her expression shifted ever so slightly—like something was clicking into place.
Coby’s words hung in the air, repeating like a mantra, pushing back the eerie tension that had begun to suffocate you.
“Mr. Stuffles... He’s with the operator. You were distracted on missions. You know this.”
So far he was keeping Sally in wraps Now, you only hoped he was able to keep it that way.
