The first light of dawn stretches across the sky as your group finally spots the docks ahead. The distant waves shimmer under the rising sun, but there's no time to appreciate the view. Tension thickens the air as you prepare for what's to come.
Hange sends Pieck ahead to scout the surrounding area while she and Magath climb a nearby hill to survey the dock through their binoculars. The rest of you remain in position, waiting in silence except for the occasional murmured conversation.
You stand beside Levi, both of you watching as the warriors argue with members of your squad. The debate is a difficult one—whether or not to kill the Yeagerists. Reiner and Annie, hardened by years of war, have no hesitation about doing what needs to be done, and neither do you. These aren't your comrades. But Jean and Connie struggle with the idea. The Yeagerists, as misguided as they are, were once their friends, people they trained with, fought alongside. Killing them feels like betraying everything they once stood for.
Regardless, you all know the truth—hesitation will get you killed. The mission must come first. If it comes down to it, you are to assist the Armored and Female Titans however necessary, eliminating any Yeagerist that stands in the way.
As you wait for Hange's orders, you take the opportunity to speak with Levi. He eyes the docks in the distance, his expression unreadable.
"Stay focused," he mutters, crossing his arms. "And be careful."
You give him a teasing smile. "Yes, Captain."
Levi raises an eyebrow at you, unimpressed. You chuckle, shaking your head. "Sorry. Just reminds me of when we used to go on missions together."
His expression softens, just for a moment, and though he tries to school his features back into something stern, you catch the amused look in his eyes. "We were younger then," he says.
"Still are," you reply.
He exhales, shaking his head. "Not after all this."
Before you can respond, movement catches your eye. Hange is returning, followed closely by Pieck.
Pieck wastes no time. "The place is crawling with Yeagerists," she reports. "They're heavily armed with anti-Titan gear. If we don't move fast, they'll destroy everything before we get the chance to use it."
Armin processes this, speaking aloud, "They must've arrived by train before us."
Hange nods. "The flying ship is still intact, but there are explosives strapped to it. They might detonate it at any moment."
You clench your fists. "Then we need to act fast."
"Agreed," Hange says.
But then she glances at Magath, her expression turning grim. "Eren and his army are close to Marley. The first towns are about to be trampled."
A heavy silence follows. Those from Marley—Pieck, Eugene, Reiner, Annie, Gabi, and Falco—grow visibly tense. The weight of what's about to happen, settles over them like a suffocating force.
Then Magath moves.
In an instant, he lunges forward, grabbing Yelena by the throat and slamming her to the ground. The others barely have time to react before he begins choking her, his voice a growl as he demands, "Tell us where Eren is heading!"
Yelena gasps, clawing at his grip, but he doesn't let up. When she refuses to answer, he tightens his hold. Then—with a sickening crack—he wrenches her arm, breaking it.
Yelena cries out in pain, her body writhing on the ground. But finally, she gasps out, "Fine! I'll talk." She winces, panting through the pain. "I don't want to die before seeing how this all ends. Bring me with you, and I'll cooperate!"
