"The steves of this world have such a limited view."
Any light that filtered through the windows had turned rainbow before it touched the floor.
If any of the steves from this world. The chromatics whose forms, energy, whose code and souls were tied to this realm. If any of them were to walk in, they would simply assume the light had reflected off of any of the shattered pieces of stained glass that were scattered on the floor.
However, even with his worsening sight, Sabre had always seen more than them.
Such was the curse of being a player. Of having a chat.
Such was a curse he had accidentally dragged another into.
Another who was currently sitting on the window frame thay once held a window. Well, it still held a window, just a shattered window. The one who had watched those steves throw a brick into Sabre's house.
"I mean, seriously. Look at this!
I mean, sure, we weren't friends in the beginning, but even so-"
"Rainbow."
Grey eyes looked at the half-jellyfish like creature. The cursed watcher symbol in the centre of his grey eyes had dulled after he gave Rainbow, his friend, the ability to see chat. Specifically, his chat, the sky people.
The once green colour they had had faded since they both had to leave their past world. The Steve Saga.
Watchers. They both missed that world.
"Hey! At least back home, we thought before we attacked...
Well, apart from Beemare."
It truly was a home.
"Yeah. Fond memories."
The once steve smiled, and some eyes opened around him. All in different colours and all showing their home.
A red eye showed someone Rainbow once knew, a red steve that was not full of a burning rage. But, instead, he was filled with a burning desire to learn more. He was working in a lab-like space, tail flicking as he poured redstone dust onto a pile of redstone. Somethings would never change.
A yellow eye showed the nicknamed "Beemare". Who was now trying to redeem himself. Trying to make up, to apologise, for everyone he killed for everything he ruined. The yellow steve that had features of a red steve that were left over from his... past mistakes.
A green eye showed Alex and the sick green steve. Both working in the same room. Sadly, the sight didn't extend to picking up sound. That, however, wasn't an issue for Sabre. But the eyes showed the two messing with potions, likely trying to find a way to cure the sickly green steve.
A blue eye showed Illusion walking amongst illusions of his own making. In a world where everything was perfect. Or nearly everything. Sabre, Lucas, and Rainbow were missing, but due to their nature as not belonging to that world, it was expected.
A purple eye showed the guardian of the spirit world interacting with ghost steve and a purple steve. All three of them seemed to be planning something. Maybe it was a way for the dead spirits to return and talk to those who were alive. Maybe it was for something else. Neither did know.
Other multicoloured eyes showed scenes of the past.
When Sabre fought Nightmare in Nightmare's castle. Forcing Nightmare to fall with his final hit.
When Ultra and Chaos fought for the first time. The lava and snow glowing a burning red.
When faceless stole Sabre's identity and Rainbow quizzed the two to figure out who was telling the truth.
When Rainbow was cursed into what he now was. When Sabre gave him a gamertag, sacrificing some of his own code to try and make it so Rainbow could see the sky people, his chat.
One of the few things that made the curse bearable.
But it was the one thing that he shouldn't have done.
Rather than the kind steve Rainbow once was, now he was meaner, crueller at times. Because the watchers twisted him. Turned him into something like them.
But, he was still Rainbow.
And Sabre was still Sabre. Despite now being more like a listener than a player now.
...
"Let's clean up the glass."
The eyes fizzled out as the watcher symbol above Rainbow wavered. A sign that they hadn't fully twisted his brother in all but blood.
"Okay, Sabre."
