The years had passed quicker than you expected. You were now in your third year at Aldera Middle School, and graduation was just around the corner. A lot has changed since you first awakened your Quirk. Your body, once small and frail, had grown taller and stronger.

Your arms, though not overly muscular, now had a defined tone, a result of the grueling daily quests the System forced you to complete. You called it a system, you read many fictions about this kind of stuff so calling it a system would make sense.

You hid your physique under baggy clothes, not wanting to draw unnecessary attention. Your personality had shifted too. You were quieter, but still humble. You had learned to keep your head down and focus on what mattered, protecting your family and growing stronger.

Your Quirk had become second nature to you, though leveling up was a slow and arduous process. At Level 20, you could summon five shadow soldiers, but they were only normal grade nowhere near as strong as a pro hero. Still, they were loyal to a fault. The shadow knights, in particular, treated you with a reverence that made you uncomfortable.

They bowed to you as if you were their king, even when you gave them simple tasks like cleaning the house. But even those small tasks drained your mana, which was still frustratingly low at 30/30. You had a long way to go before you could truly master your abilities.

The classroom was filled with chatter as the teacher stood at the front, a clipboard in hand. "Alright, everyone," she said, clapping her hands to get the class's attention. "Today, we're going to talk about your future plans. I'll call your names, and you'll tell the class what you want to be when you grow up. Let's start with... Y/N L/N."

You stood up, your expression calm despite the sneers and whispers that erupted around you. Some of your classmates openly laughed, while others muttered insults under their breath.

"Oh, this should be good," one boy snickered. "What's the Quirkless wonder gonna say? Janitor? Convenience store worker?"

You ignored them, your voice steady as you answered. "I've always wanted to be a hero-"

The class erupted into laughter before you could finish. Even the teacher joined in, her voice dripping with mockery. "That's funny, Y/N. Aren't you Quirkless? How do you expect to be a hero?"

"HAHAHAH!"

"No way, thats lame hehe"

You shrugged, sitting back down.

The truth was, you hadn't planned to say that. You were supposed to say, "I've always wanted to be a hero, but I gave up on that dream and decided to become a doctor instead." But they didn't let you finish. It didn't matter, though. Their laughter didn't faze you. You had bigger things to worry about than the opinions of a bunch of teenagers.

The teacher moved on to the next student, and you tuned out the rest of the presentations. When the bell rang for lunch, you grabbed your wallet and headed to the school café. You didn't have much money, so you settled for a carton of milk and a small sandwich from the vending machine. It wasn't much, but it was enough to keep you going.

As you turned the corner, you bumped into someone, and your sandwich fell to the ground. You immediately apologized, your words catching in your throat when you saw who it was.

"I'm so so-sorry!" the boy stammered, his face turning red as he looked at you and the fallen sandwich. It was the same boy you'd bumped into before the one with the messy green hair.

You blinked, sighing as you picked up the sandwich. It was ruined, but there was no point making a fuss over it. "It's fine," you said, tossing it into a nearby trash can.
