You stared at the two visitors standing at your doorstep, their presence almost surreal. It was still midnight, and the last thing you expected was for the principal of the prestigious U.A. High School and a pro hero to show up at your home unannounced.
Nezu put a hands on his back "Were sorry to come announced at this hour, it's just that this is very important that we couldn't wait"
With a wary glance you nod at them to come in "Come in," you whispered, keeping your voice low. "Just be quiet. My little sister is sleeping."
Nezu nodded, stepping inside with Aizawa following behind, his hands tucked into his pockets. You led them to the small dining table and quickly set about preparing tea. The warmth of the stove barely did anything to chase away the cold knot in your stomach. What did they want from you?
After setting down the tea, you sat across from them, your arms crossed. "So? What do you want?"
Nezu took a sip from his cup before looking at you intently. "Can you recall when you first awakened your Quirk?"
You frowned, thinking back. "It was last year. I woke up and found two shadows moving on their own,"
Nezu exchanged a glance with Aizawa before nodding. "It seems you may have forgotten the details of your quirk awakening. But that's not the only reason we're here. We want you to study at U.A."
Your response was immediate. "No."
Nezu blinked, seemingly unfazed. "May I ask why?"
You clenched your fists on your lap. "I don't have enough money to support being in the hero course. Just making a hero costume costs thousands. I can't afford it."
Nezu tilted his head. "And what is it you wish to pursue instead?"
You exhaled, gripping your cup. "I want to become a doctor. If I can get a full scholarship, I can afford to help my mom. Maybe even heal her one day."
For the first time since he arrived, Nezu put down his cup, his small paws resting on the table. His expression was serious, his voice unwavering. "Your Quirk is something far beyond ordinary healing. You have the potential to change lives to become a hero who can protect and save countless people."
You remained silent, staring at the steaming tea before you. The offer was tempting, too good to be true. But could you really afford to gamble your future like that?
"U.A. will support you," Nezu continued. "You will enter as a recommendation student. You will receive a monthly allowance, and your hero uniform will be provided free of charge crafted from high quality fabrics to ensure the best protection."
Your eyes widened slightly, but you quickly masked your reaction. "That's a lot of investment for someone like me."
Nezu smiled. "We believe you are worth it."
Before you could respond, a small, groggy voice broke through the silence.
"Nee-san...?"
You turned, finding your little sister, S/N, standing at the hallway entrance, rubbing her sleepy eyes. Her hair was messy from sleep, and she clutched the sleeve of her oversized pajama top. Her eyes still tired she couldn't see her favourite hero.
You quickly stood up, walking over to her and patting her head. "Go back to bed, S/N. It's late."
She blinked up at you, then glanced at the two strangers sitting in your home. "Who are they?" she mumbled.
Nezu smiled warmly. "We're just here to talk to your sister about her future."
S/N looked up at you, her drowsiness fading slightly. "Are they asking you to be a hero?"
You hesitated before nodding. "Yeah, something like that."
She furrowed her brows, thinking deeply. Then, with the most serious expression her small face could muster, she grabbed your hand. "I think you should do it."
Your heart clenched. "S/N..."
"You always tell me to follow my dreams," she said, her voice firm despite her exhaustion. "You always work so hard for me and Mama. But, Nee-san, you deserve to have dreams too."
A lump formed in your throat. You had always been the one guiding her, pushing her to do her best. But now, here she was, telling you to do the same.
Nezu sipped his tea again, seemingly pleased by the turn of events. "It seems your little sister is quite wise."
Before you could respond, S/N's eyes landed on Aizawa. Her eyes widened in awe. "Wait... you're Eraser Head!" she gasped.
Aizawa blinked, mildly surprised. "Yeah."
S/N clutched her hands together, her exhaustion completely forgotten. "You're my favorite hero! You're so cool when you fight villains with your scarf! And your Quirk is amazing!"
Aizawa scratched the back of his head. "Thanks."
She turned to you, practically bouncing on her feet. "Nee-san, you have to go to U.A.! You'll be learning from Eraser Head himself!"
You exhaled slowly, looking at your sister's determined face before turning back to Nezu and Aizawa.
'Maybe it was time for a change.'
Before Nezu and Aizawa left, you noticed S/N clutching something in her small hands. A closer look revealed it was an Eraser Head card.
You sighed, knowing exactly what she wanted. With a resigned shake of your head, you turned to Aizawa. "Eraser Head, sir can my little sister have an autograph? She's a big fan."
Aizawa glanced at the eager-eyed girl, then nodded. Taking the card from her tiny hands, he signed it swiftly before handing it back. "Here."
S/N gasped, holding the card like it was the most precious thing in the world. "Thank you so much!" she beamed.
Aizawa simply nodded, stuffing his hands back into his pockets. You chuckled lightly, shaking your head. "Go back to sleep now" you said to your little sister walking with a happy face back to her room.
Nezu chuckled. "Well then, Y/N, we'll be expecting you at U.A.?"
You took a deep breath before nodding. "Yeah I'll do it."
Nezu's expression brightened. "Excellent. You'll begin receiving your allowance starting tomorrow, so there's no need to continue working. Focus on training well."
Your breath hitched. "Wait, you're saying I can quit my job?"
Nezu nodded. "Indeed. Additionally, your mother's hospital bills will be taken care of in exchange for your service to society as a hero."
Your fingers clenched around the hem of your shirt as the weight of his words settled in. Your mother's treatment was finally covered. A hero's wages are no joke, especially being a pro one. Not everyone can get this treatment.
You swallowed hard,Looking at Nezu with a serious expression "Then I won't waste this opportunity."
Nezu then handed you a stack of papers. "Please fill these out. We'll need your age, name, blood type, Quirk details, and your online bank account information."
You quickly filled them out and handed them back. After a moment of hesitation, you bowed deeply. "Thank you for everything."
Nezu smiled warmly. "You shouldn't be thanking us, Y/N." His eyes gleamed. "It's humanity that should be thanking you, for gaining another powerful hero on its side."
Aizawa just wished you won't be a pain to deal with.
