19 - Player Gets Played

I held her arms, pulling her towards me. I don't know why I care for what this girl thinks about me but I do. Every thought she has for me matters to me.

"Why? Why are you saying this? You don't even have any proof against me."

"You yourself told me that night that you do not love RJ."

"I was drunk, Kiara. I didn't mean any of it. I am happy."

"No you're not because I can see it. You are not even interested in anything that's happening. It's just RJ doing everything. A person who marries out of love doesn't behave the way you are behaving. Why? Why are you marrying her and destroying her life?"

I cupped her face harshly bringing her face closer to mine "Because I-" I stopped.

My heart pounded violently against my ribs, my frustration burning through me, she was provoking me to tell her the truth.

Her breath came in uneven gasps, her chest rising and falling against mine. The air between us crackled with tension, heavy with everything left unsaid. I could see it in her eyes-shiny with unshed tears, she wanted me to stop but I wasn't stopping.

"Zayn." That voice made me come back to my senses. Mum.

I released my hold on Kiara. For a while our eyes didn't leave each other. "I won't let you marry RJ." Saying she turned back and exited the room.

I closed my eyes trying to stay calm. She always manages to provoke me with her words.

"What are you thinking, Zayn?" Mum asked.

I shook my head "Nothing."

"Are you sure?" She placed a hand on my cheek.

I nodded.

"You still have time. Let's forget everything. Back out from this marriage."

"Mum, I can't."

"You can. I know you don't love Rose. I have seen it in your eyes."

I turned back, trying to hide my emotions from her.

"Marriage should be a pure bond between two people who love each other. You'll regret doing this to Ki."

"Why would I regret it? I had made this marriage my life and when finally it is happening, why are you asking me to move back?" I held her shoulders "All of us wanted this, Mum."

"I couldn't do anything for Zack, let me do something for you. This is not the way to do it. You will break Ki, Zayn."

I shook my head "Don't ruin it, Mum. It took me 5 years to get here. Don't ruin this."

I turned back to leave the room when she said "Will you be able to bear losing Ki in the end?"

I stopped.

"Tell me Zayn, will you be able to forget Ki after you are successful in this madness?"

I closed my eyes.

"You love her."

My jaw clenched "I don't."

"You do. Stop lying to yourself."

"I am not lying!"

She stood in front of me and started "Really? You don't love Ki? Then why? Why are you always there to save her from every problem? Why always your eyes stop on her? Why always you get impatient if she's not around? Why do you smile when you are with her? Why Zayn?"

"I don't know! I don't know!"

"Because you love her!"

I shook my head.
