"Scarlet! Get down here now!"

You were starting to regret the whole roommate situation. It's been a week. A singular week. And you've had more headaches caused by Shadow getting pissed at Scarlet while the Chao purposely feeds into it. Well it's more like she purposely gets him mad.

Because she likes to be coddled by you and it works every time. Until you noticed the pattern. Scarlet would do something small, Shadow would get pissed, she'd be chased by him, until you walked into the room to see what the fuck was happening, then you had a Chao crying and hiding behind you. Making you chastise the hedgehog who was essentially the victim. Hell, he would look so defeated after every lecture.

You started to just ignore the fights all together. Even as Scarlet tried to get your attention and have you coddle her. Even as Shadow shouted (as quiet as he could to not give you any headaches). You minded your damned business. Sipping on your drink of choice or nibbling on your snack of choice. You quite literally watched the chaos.

And right now, Scarlet was flying as high as she could to get out of her fathers grasp. Which was working, until he threw a pillow at her effortlessly taking her down. He caught her before she could land, taking something from her little nubs.

"This isn't a toy. How did you manage to get your hands on it?"

  "What did she get?" He turned to you and revealed a pistol. Making you choke on your drink. "A gun?! How did she get a gun?? Did you lock it up?"

  "Am I supposed to? That seems impractical." He squinted his eyes at you and then the gun. You hoped to whatever god could be listening that it wasn't loaded. Especially if she managed to get her hands on one, what was stopping her from getting more?

Shadow plopped the Chao onto her Chao tree and went into his new bedroom. A sign hung from the door, his name written in red. You held a similar sign written in (color). You thought it was cute. Gave you a reason to actually decorate your bedroom door.

You let out a huff and sit yourself onto the couch. Drink in hand. You begged to the gods for just one morning where you woke up peacefully. Just one. Scarlet let out a tiny giggle at seeing your tired eyes. Making scrunch your nose at her and giving a tiny glare. Which effectively shut her up. Immediately diverting her attention to decapitate yet another Sonic Chao toy. Which she did within seconds.

You were both going to need help. You moved out so you could take care of your Chao without anyone becoming collateral damage. And now, with the two people she didn't despise with all her tiny might, she was causing trouble. And now you are becoming collateral damage. You needed help. You had no idea, in spite of looking up everything you needed to do to take care of a dark Chao, how to take care of a dark Chao. Let alone a Chao.

Thinking about it, you were created to kill. To destroy a speedy hedgehog. And you failed at the one thing you were supposed to do. So now... what was your purpose? Because it definitely didn't constitute taking care of a flying child.

You placed down your drink so you didn't stare into the cup. To be faced with your reflection. You shouldn't feel depressed right now, Shadow found himself. He saved the world. You should be happy, for him at least.

"What's wrong?"

You shake your head and give a tiny smile. "Nothing to worry about, Shadow. Trust me." He kissed his teeth and sat next to you. Looking dead at you, his eyes softened the longer he stared at you.

"Corazón, what's wrong?" There wasn't hiding anything from him. Might as well. You take in a deep breath, hold it for a bit, release it... and—

"—What am I supposed to do about this tiny problem child! I moved so she wouldn't be a problem to others but she's becoming a problem to others and to me! I don't know how to take care of her, I was created to destroy not protect—"
