Y/N thought she had left her past behind. After barely surviving her final mission with A.E.G.I.S (Advanced Enforcement Group for Interspecies Security) she walked away from the life of combat and secrecy, trading it for the quiet comfort of a coffe...

The air inside the ship was suffocatingly tense.
No one spoke. No one needed to.
They had all known this day would come—the day they put everything on the line. But knowing it and feeling it were two different things.
Y/n adjusted the straps on her gear, her fingers running over the weapons at her belt. Her heartbeat was steady, but deep down, an unease curled in her stomach. This was it. No turning back.
She looked up, scanning the faces of her team.
Sonic stood near the exit, stretching his legs, rolling his shoulders, a small smirk playing on his lips—classic bravado, but there was a sharpness in his eyes. He was ready.
Knuckles cracked his knuckles loudly, grunting as he flexed his fists. "Hope they're ready for us," he muttered.
Amy twirled her hammer once before setting it down, her expression unreadable. "We stick to the plan."
On the other side of the room, the Stealth Team gathered near the cockpit, going over their approach.
Rouge flicked through the holographic display, highlighting the facility's entrance and weak points. "Security is tight, but there's an access tunnel here." She pointed to a narrow ventilation shaft. "Leads straight to the lower levels. If we make it inside undetected, we have a shot at reaching his chamber before anyone realizes what's happening."
Tails was busy calibrating a small hacking device. "I can loop their surveillance feeds for a few minutes at a time, but it's not perfect. We'll still need to move fast."
Y/n nodded, taking it all in.
Then, her eyes met Shadow's.
He didn't say anything—he didn't need to. His gaze was unwavering, his presence steady beside her.
For a brief moment, she allowed herself to breathe. With him here, she wasn't alone.
But then Sonic clapped his hands together. "Alright, folks. Time to cause some chaos."
The ship landed just outside the facility's perimeter, hidden in the shadows of a jagged canyon.
As the hatch opened, the cold night air hit them.
Sonic turned to them, grinning. "You guys sneak in, we'll keep the party entertained."
Y/n smirked. "Try not to get caught."
Sonic shot her a wink before speeding off. Knuckles and Amy followed closely behind, disappearing into the darkness.
And just like that, they were gone.
Rouge exhaled, glancing at Y/n. "Guess that's our cue."
The Stealth Team moved swiftly through the underbrush, keeping low. The facility loomed ahead—a massive, fortified structure carved into the mountainside.
