Lauren is acting weird today.
Sobrang tahimik nya since first subject until now. Hindi nya din ako masyadong kinikibo o tinitignan man lang.
Patapos na ang klase at hindi ko narin matiis ang katahimikan.
Kaya naman.
Bumulong ako kay Lauren. "Are you okay?"
Lauren blink her eyes first before answering but she did not look at me. "I'm okay Elaine."
Gosh even her voice is cold as an ice.
So i don't belive her.
I know something happened.
And i want to know.
So i push it. I whisper again. "Anong problema mo at tahimik ka?"
This time Lauren turns to me and our eyes met. "Ha?"
"You are so quiet Lauren, hindi ako sanay." I told her the truth.
Lauren look at my face a little long and hard — It give me goosebumps. Parang ngayon ko lang kasi nakita ang ganyang expression nya. "Kasi nakikinig ako sa discussion."
Really now?
But why would she lie to me right?
"Are you sure wala kang problema?" Again, i repeated.
Lauren smile at me. "Wala no."
Hinawakan ko ang kamay ni Lauren. "Alright, i believe you —"
"Quiet." Boses ng professor namin.
Kaya tumahimik narin ako, but still holding Lauren's hand, caressing it, squeezing it — I love doing this to her.
Our class for today has ended.
At gutom ako.
"Meryenda tayo." Pag-aaya ko kay Lauren. "I'm starving."
"Busog pa ako eh." Sagot nya at tumayo na sya. "Sasamahan nalang kita."
Tumango ako. "Sige."
At lumabas na kami ng classroom.
Tahimik parin si Lauren at hinayaan ko nalang sya — maybe wala sya sa mood makipag - usap ngayon.
But —
It's so unlikely of her.
"Na email mo na sakin ang resume mo?" I still try to break the wall between us.
I couldn't take it.
"Ay oo nga no." Para syang natauhan. "Mamayang gabi gagawin ko."
Kumunot noo ko. "Pero may lakad tayo later."
"Ha?" Her head snap at me. "May gala ba tayo?"
Napangiti ako dahil bumabalik na sya sa dati. "Oo." At niyakap ko ang kamay ko sa braso nya. "Invited tayo n8 Jelo sa birthday party nya."
"Ah yong kahalikan mo —"
Nagulat ako sa sinabi ni Lauren. Kaya napatigil ako sa paglalakad. "Wha.. What?"
But Lauren did not stop. "Nothing."
Did she...
Nakita nya?
I mean it was a friendly smack.
But fuck again.
Sino ba ang niloloko ko? Edi sarili ko. I kissed him — That's it.
