"Watch out for those snakes. They seem to sense our presence clearly," Itachi warned, his sharp gaze fixed on the slithering creatures surrounding them—Kabuto's doing, no doubt.
Sasuke, all too familiar with snakes after years spent under Orochimaru and Kabuto, remained unfazed. "Snakes detect things through temperature," he explained. "They also rely on their sense of smell, passing scents through their mouths to process them."
Itachi, uncharacteristically, let a small smirk tug at his lips. "You've learned a lot... Dr. Snakes."
The unexpected joke caught Sasuke off guard, stirring something deep within him—a fleeting warmth, a distant echo of the bond they once shared. For a moment, it felt as if nothing had changed, as if they were simply brothers again. The Uchiha brothers.
But reality was cruel. One of them was dead inside yet alive on the outside, while the other was alive within but long gone to the world.
"Of course, he knows a lot about snakes. He lived with them for years," Misa quipped, shooting a glance at Sasuke, who merely rolled his eyes.
"I lived with them to study their abilities - so I could defeat Orochimaru," Sasuke corrected, his tone flat.
Kabuto chuckled, "But you won't defeat me by becoming Dr. Snakes. This is my domain. Nature will always be on my side."
"Spoken like a wannabe villain," Misa retorted, her sharp eyes darting to the snakes slithering ever closer, "Nature isn't on anyone's side, Kabuto. Nature is equal to all."
"Are they... getting bigger?" he muttered, feeling strands of his raven hair cling to his damp forehead as his brows furrowed observing the serpents around them.
"This might be a trap," Itachi warned, his voice steady but alert.
Kabuto smirked, amusement flickering in his eyes. They were fools - all of them. Blind to what was coming. Sasuke and Misa could never defeat him. He was certain of it.
Maybe Itachi could... but what could a dead man do?
A massive shadow loomed over them. Then, from behind, an enormous snake emerged, its gleaming fangs bared.
Without hesitation, both brothers activated their Susanoos, their towering ethereal warriors radiating immense power.
And Misa? She had her own way of handling things. Swiftly, she dropped the temperature, freezing the air and surfaces around her in an instant. Ice spread like veins across the ground, while a dense, frozen mist swirled around the snake, trapping it in an icy grip and instantly leading it to its death. After all, snakes could not survive in low temperatures being cold blooded species. The smaller snakes slithering nearby? She made quick work of them, encasing them in shimmering frost before they could get any closer.
Turning her head to the side, Misa nearly facepalmed at the overwhelming energy radiating from the Uchiha brothers.
"Oh my god, are you serious?" she sighed, exasperated. "You really need a whole Susanoo to beat a snake?"
