The In-Between

Owen and the others appear back in the In-Between, seeing Ian, Sarah, and the raptors near a random arch. Shaun asks, “What is this place?” Sarin says, “It’s a place full of rifts to travel between the multiverse. They’re deactivated, but my power can reopen them. Watch.” Sarin opens two rifts; the arch on one looks like the door to a museum with posters for several attractions around it and a flashlight resting on it, and the other looks like an arch made out of the ground of Green Hill Zone with a spring next to it. Sarin says, “The Sonic universe is of low priority to us, however, the other universe is important. You must remember that this universe is chaotic at night. Find the nightguard with the flashlight, he will be there.” Owen nods his head and walks in with Sonic and Shaun. Ed clambers in behind them at the last second.

Night at the Museum

Owen, Sonic, Shaun, and Ed stand in front of the Museum of Natural History in New York. Owen knocks on the door and says, “Hello? Anyone in there?” “It’s…” Shaun checks his watch and replies, “8:57. There’s probably a guard, but they won’t let three random guys and a hedgehog inside unless we work here as a night guard." Sonic suggests, “Then we’ll go through the window.” Shaun looks at Sonic in disbelief, and Owen interjects, “Well, of course we won’t, Sonic! This is the Museum of Natural damn history. There’s a loading dock around the other side." The group then walks over to the loading dock and heads inside. Once in the museum lobby, Ed exclaims, “Oh, I’ve never been here before. This is cool!" Owen approaches the Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton near the entrance and says, “I’ve seen living ones. I’m not bragging. Rexes will eat your face off. Or rather, bite off your whole upper half." Sonic, Shaun, and Ed display looks of sheer terror. Owen slowly turns around and spots Larry Daley. Larry yells, “What the hell are you doing here? Get out!” Owen responds, “I’m sorry, but we really need people to join our cause.” “Like some religious group that worships fictional characters?" Larry laughs and adds, “I’m willing to bet that’s just a really good Sonic costume!" He approaches Sonic, looks for a zipper, and asks, “Are you a statue?” Suddenly, the Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton roars into the air, causing Ed to scream in terror as he runs away with Shaun and Owen. Larry shouts, “WAIT!” Sonic faints, and Larry picks him up. Owen, Shaun, and Ed escape to the Civil War display. Owen says, “We’re in the clear now." Ed points at one of the now-animated Union soldier statues, which is aiming at an equally animated Confederate statue. Shaun remarks, “This is just like Night at the Museum. That means the Rex is friendly.” Owen asks, "Then why didn’t you say that earlier?!" Shaun replies, “I don’t know, I was scared by Larry!” Owen groans and then ducks as the Civil War statues start shooting each other. A cannonball flies overhead and blows a statue into bits. Theodore Roosevelt rides in on his horse and says, “Who are you?” Owen shoots at a Confederate and yells, “We’re trying to save the multiverse!” Teddy says, “The multiverse? Preposterous! That sounds insane.” A rift opens behind them, and The Spy walks out with various enemy robots from the Team Fortress 2 universe. Teddy says, “Well, I’m willing to believe now.” Teddy shoots a robot in the head, and Spy cloaks away. The Civil War statues engage the robots as Owen and the group run back into the lobby, but Teddy stays behind so he can fight the robots. Owen, Shaun, and Ed run through the lobby and into a hallway. They see a Moai head, and it says, “Hey Dumb-Dumb. You give me Gum-Gum.” Owen says, “I don’t have any gum.” Ed says, “I do.” Ed puts the gum in the Moai head’s mouth, and the Moai head says, “Thank you friend of Dumb-Dumb.” Owen says, “We need to move.” Owen, Shaun, and Ed run to the miniatures section, and he sees Sonic lying on a bench while Larry is communicating with the living miniatures in the Wild West section. Owen asks, “The hell is going on here?” Larry says, “We’re trying to figure out what we should do with Sonic over here.” The miniature Jedidiah says, “We need to ‘lectrocute em! That’ll get ‘em breathin’ real quick!” Owen walks up to Sonic and whistles. Sonic shoots up while gasping, and Sonic says, “Jesus, Owen!” Jed says, “Oh neat.” Larry says, “Phew! Well, now that we have that sorted out-” Teddy runs in and yells, “Larry, my boy! The robots have defeated the Civil War soldiers and brutally murdered my horse! We have to do something forthwith!” A Heavy robot stomps into the room and starts shooting at them with its minigun. Owen and Teddy hide behind the benches while Larry, Shaun, and Ed run out. Sonic spindashes directly into the robot, but a bunch of Sniper robots with SMGs run in. Spy reappears from the shadows and grabs Sonic as he says, “Come here, you insipid little blue rat.” Owen and Teddy are unloading on the Sniper bots, and Owen sees Sonic about to be stabbed in the neck. Owen yells, “TEDDY!” Teddy aims his gun at Spy and says, “Eat lead, you masked Frenchman!” Teddy shoots Spy in the arm, and Spy yells, “GODDAMNIT!” Spy drops Sonic and cloaks away, and Sonic breathes a sigh of relief before sprinting right through all the robots and hitting the Sonic Adventure pose. Owen stares in awe, his jaw metaphorically hitting the floor. Larry runs back in with Shaun and Ed, and Larry says, ”Guys we gotta go. We- we have to move. C’mon.” Larry and the rest get into the lobby, where the robots are fighting the Huns, Neanderthals, T-Rex Skeleton, and Akmenrah. Jed and Octavius run in, and Sonic looks down at them. Sonic asks, “What do we do with these tiny guys?” Jed has an offended look on his face, and he yells, “I ain’t tiny; I’m an average-sized person! You’re the giant!” Octavius says, “Jedediah, we have bigger problems!” Jed looks at the war going on down there and then looks at Owen and Teddy, who are firing at the robots. Jed says, “Oh yeah.” Sonic runs right through all the robots and kicks open the doors to the museum. He gives a thumbs up, and Owen says, “Now we’re in business.” Atilla the Hun yells, “Металл илбэчид устгагдсан! ЭРЧҮҮД МИНЬ БАЯРТАЙ!” Sarin floats into the room and says, “Larry Daley, I am pleased to welcome you to our force. You must come quick and bring everyone with you.” Dexter the monkey lands on Teddy’s shoulder, and Teddy says, “What about the fact we fade to dust at day?” Sarin says, “Do not worry, Theodore. You can survive the light of the sun outside of your universe as long as I have a say in it.” Teddy laughs and says, “Then let us fight for our freedom!” Teddy walks into the rift, then Jed and Octavius, then Larry, then Sonic and Owen, Shaun and Ed, and the Civil War soldiers, and even Sacagawea, Lewis, and Clark. Atilla runs into the rift with his army while chanting, “Бид дайснуудтайгаа тулалдах болно!” Sarin flies into the rift, and it closes.
