Rebuilding

As the crowd dispersed, fairies returned to their homes, whispering about what had just happened. Tinker Bell was already gathering materials for rebuilding, Rosetta and Vidia were arguing over where I'd stay for the time being, and Terence... he hadn't left my side.

"You should get some rest," he murmured, his fingers still lightly tracing circles on my back. "It's been a long day."

I nodded, though my mind was still racing. Where had Yvette gone? Would she try something again? And what if—

Terence squeezed my hand. "Hey. I can hear you overthinking."

I exhaled a soft laugh. "I guess I just don't understand. Why would she do all of this? Just because of you?"

His expression darkened slightly, guilt flickering behind his eyes. "I don't know. I thought she was my friend, but maybe I was blind to what she really wanted." He sighed. "I should have noticed sooner."

I shook my head. "This isn't your fault, Terence."

He hesitated before nodding. "Either way, I'm not letting you go through this alone."

By the next morning, the fairies of Pixie Hollow had already started rebuilding my home. Tinker Bell had taken charge, directing the tinkers with precision, while Rosetta made sure to add her own personal touch. "A home needs charm, sugar plum!" by decorating with vines and flowers.

Terence had barely left my side, helping whenever he could. Every time I looked up, his warm brown eyes were already on me, as if making sure I wouldn't disappear.

And while the love and support of my friends helped ease the pain of losing my home, I couldn't shake the nagging feeling that this wasn't over.

That evening, after everyone had left to rest, I sat outside, staring at the half-finished structure that would soon be my new home. The stars twinkled above, the Hollow quiet except for the occasional rustling of leaves.

Then, a breeze shifted, and I heard it—soft footsteps behind me.

I turned sharply, my heart pounding.

A shadow stood just beyond the trees.

For a moment, I thought it was just the wind playing tricks on me. But then, the figure stepped forward, and the dim light of the moon illuminated a familiar face.

Yvette.

Her once-bright eyes were filled with something colder now—something unhinged.

"I told you," she whispered, voice barely audible. "You don't belong here."

A chill ran down my spine.

Before I could respond, she took a step back, her wings fluttering as she disappeared into the shadows once more.

I swallowed hard, my mind racing.

This wasn't over.

And something told me...

It was only going to get worse.

Time skip cause I'm lazy haha

I had stayed the night over at Terence's house, he gave me his bed and he slept on the couch. Though he did mention not minding keeping me company in a teasing manner.

My mind was not processing the new information fast enough and Terence took the silence as an indication and left me in his room, respecting my wishes.

That night I couldn't sleep, I awoke with a heaviness in my chest. Yvette's words haunted me. You don't belong here.

What did she mean? What was she planning?

Terence woke early, bringing breakfast and his usual radiant energy, but even he could sense something was off.

"You okay?" he asked, handing me his attempt at a fresh honey biscuit and a cup of warm (favorite warm drink)

I hesitated before nodding. "Just... didn't sleep well."

Terence frowned, clearly not convinced. "Are you sure? If this is about Yvette—"

"I saw her last night." The words left my mouth before I could stop them.

His entire body tensed. "What?"

"She was watching me," I admitted, looking down. "She said I don't belong here... and then she just disappeared into the trees."

Terence stood so quickly that his chair nearly tipped over. "Why didn't you wake me up? I would have—"

"Done what?" I said, forcing a small smile. "Chased her? She was already gone before I could react."

Terence ran a hand through his hair, clearly frustrated. "This isn't just jealousy anymore, (Y/N). She's dangerous."

I nodded. "I know."

A determined look crossed his face. "Then we need to do something before she does."

After breakfast, we met with the girls. I told them about Yvette's visit, and as expected, they were furious.

"That little weasel is up to something," Vidia said, crossing her arms. "And I don't like it."

"That's putting it lightly," Rosetta scoffed. "She's a menace!"

Tinker Bell had been unusually quiet, but suddenly she snapped her fingers. "Wait! What if she left something behind?"

We all turned to her.

Tink continued, "If she was lurking around last night, she might have dropped something—a clue!"

It wasn't a bad idea. All of us combed through the area near my house, looking for anything that might hint at Yvette's next move.

And then, I found it.

A scrap of parchment, hidden in the grass. The ink was smudged, but I could still make out a few words:

"Moonlight... Hollow... midnight... alone."

My stomach twisted.

"What does it say?" Terence asked, peering over my shoulder.

I hesitated. "It's a note. And it sounds like a meeting."

Dessa raised an eyebrow. "Who in their right mind would meet Yvette alone at midnight?"

A cold realization crept over me.

"What if it's not her meeting someone?" I whispered. "What if she's planning to lure someone there?"

Everyone exchanged worried glances.

Rosetta placed a hand on my arm. "Sugar plum... I think it's you."

That night, we put our plan into action.

Terence was against me going at first, but I insisted. "If she's expecting me, we can use that to our advantage."

With Vidia hiding in the trees, Tinker Bell ready with supplies, and Terence never more than a few steps behind, I made my way toward Moonlight Hollow.

The air was thick with tension. The closer we got, the more my heart pounded.

And then, I saw her.

Yvette stood in the clearing, moonlight casting eerie shadows across her face. But she wasn't alone.

Beside her, standing in the darkness... was someone else.

I swallowed hard.

This was bigger than I thought.

And we were walking right into it.
