Cale and the Universe

Night time has fallen over the side of the planet they landed on. Soosie, Doob, and Cale sit in front of a fire, with Soosie turning an animal over a makeshift rotator. Next to the fire is a collection of vegetables rested on a bed of leaves and a few medium-sized fruits hollowed out to hold water in.

Soosie: Are you going to eat, Doob?

Doob: I don't have the need to eat, so you two eat up well. If I want to, I'll pluck a fruit or two on my own just to taste.

Soosie: Gotcha.

Cale stares intently at the fire and then begins to reach towards it. Soosie notices and grabs a stick to swat his hand. Afterwards, she shake her head at him in disapproval.

Cale: Sorry.

Soosie chuckles and then replies to Cale.

Soosie: Sorry you almost burned your own hand? Goofball.

Cale chuckles a little bit and then looks at the front and back of his hand.

Soosie looks over at Cale doing so, then looks back at the fire.

Soosie: Cale, are you doing okay?

Cale:Y..Yeah, I'm doing alright.

Doob: You are pretty bent out of shape.

Cale looks at Doob and then rubs his left shoulder.

Cale: I think I should be okay.

Doob pats his hand on Cale's back, causing both him and Cale to glow temporarily. After the glowing stops, Cale lunches his body up and gasps for air. He then looks at Doob and jerks his body up slightly in surprise.

Cale: What did you do to me?

Doob: I took away some of your pain, so I could share it with you.

Doob jerks his back and rotates it slightly before easing back up.

Soosie takes the animal off the fire and sets it down on a nearby patch of rocks. She then walks over to Doob and rests her hand on his shoulder.

Soosie: Doob, let me see your back.

Doob: Say wha? What a question to even ask!

Soosie: Doob.

Doob sighs and then lifts up the shirt on his back, revealing several black handprints etched in nearly every corner and every inch of his back.

Soosie: It's as I thought.

Doob closes his eyes and the handprints fade away, causing his back to appear smooth to the touch. He then looks up at Soosie, then faces his self towards the fire.

Soosie looks at Doob and then proceeds to speak to him.

Soosie: I'm sorry for calling you a creature when we first met.

Doob: I took no insult to it. I guess we are all a creature of sorts, aren't we?

Soosie smiles at Doob and then looks at the fire.
