It was a sunny Friday in Rose Meadow. The air was warm and fresh as Jake and Luke made their way to the music room for their rehearsals. The day was shaping up to be a good one.
"So, you planning on writing more songs?" Jake asked, tossing a playful glance at Luke as they walked side by side.
Luke smiled and nodded. "Yeah, definitely. I might write another one for Zander. You should write one too, possibly for Hailey."
He said the last part in a hushed tone, but Jake didn't quite catch it. "Yeah, I'm planning on writing again. Hailey got me a notebook after I kept stealing hers."
Luke just rolled his eyes at how clueless Jake could be about his own situation. They were pretty close, but when it came to relationships, Jake wasn't always the sharpest. Soon, the two arrived at the music room and instantly were met with a storm of chaos-screaming and loud crying.
"Shut up, Zander! You wouldn't understand!" Milly's voice rang out, harsh and furious.
"We're trying to help you not get expelled, Milly!" Zander countered, his voice filled with frustration.
Jake and Luke exchanged confused looks. What in the world was going on? Why was Milly crying and screaming? They were barely inside the room when Hailey came over, concern written all over her face.
"When we all came in, she was crying," Hailey explained softly. "Sean tried comforting her, but she just screamed at him and wouldn't tell us what was wrong."
The two boys shared a look of concern. Luke walked over to Zander to pull him away from Milly, trying to calm him down. Sean approached the duo, speaking with Zander to defuse the situation. That left the singers and guitarist, standing awkwardly together.
"Milly?" Hailey asked, crouching down in front of her. "You know you can talk to us, right? We're worried about you. Is this about Zoey again?"
Milly didn't respond, instead pushing Hailey back with a force that made the teal-haired girl lose her balance. Jake was quick to act and caught her before she fell, but the moment Hailey stumbled, Milly screamed, "Just leave me alone! Not all problems have solutions!"
Without another word, Milly bolted from the room, leaving them in stunned silence. The group stayed still for a moment, not knowing what to say. Finally, Hailey broke the silence, determination in her voice.
"I should go after her. We don't want her to get into any fights."
Jake shook his head. "No. I'll go, Hailey. You guys stay here. I think I know what to do." He turned to face them all with a calm expression, despite the worry in his eyes.
The group exchanged uncertain glances but nodded, trusting Jake to handle it. "Don't worry, Milly will be okay. We might not be back for the rest of rehearsals, so just relax. Bye, princess." Jake smirked and shot finger guns at Hailey, who rolled her eyes but couldn't suppress the tiny smile tugging at her lips.
"See you later, Jake," Hailey muttered, turning to the boys. "Sean? We should work on a new track before we get into the song lyrics."

Jake ran through the school, the ticking clock reminding him that lunch was nearly over. Where could Milly be?
Just as he was about to give up, he heard quiet sniffing coming from around the corner. His heart dropped. He followed the sound carefully and found Milly sitting under a staircase, her head buried in her knees.
"Mills?" Jake called out softly, crouching down beside her.
She looked up, her tear-streaked face showing clear surprise. "Jake?"
