The relative safety of Nexus Academy was shattered. Fear lingered in the air like a noxious gas. Where were Max and Yuki? And what was this creature, powerful enough to abduct them at will?
It was then that Junko Enoshima, the Ultimate Despair, appeared, her presence a jarring burst of color amidst the growing dread. Her eyes gleamed with manic glee, a twisted reflection of the chaos she thrived on.
Junko:What's up, Faggots!
she chirped, her voice dripping with saccharine sweetness and a terrifying undercurrent of malice, adopting her "Diva" persona. She surveyed the frightened faces with predatory interest.
Goku, the Saiyan warrior, stepped forward, his brow furrowed with concern.
Goku:Junko, have you seen Max?
He had sensed a disturbance in the ki around the school, something dark and unnatural.
Junko tilted her head, her expression shifting to an innocent, almost childlike persona.
Junko:Max? Who's Max?
Kirishima, the Hero-in-Training with the hardening Quirk, sputtered in disbelief.
Kirishima:Wha-?! OUR CLASS LEADER, MAX! THAT MAX!
He looked at Junko with suspicion. Her abrupt mood swings and disturbing lack of empathy were unsettling, even for her.
Junko feigned a gasp, clapping her hands to her cheeks.
Junko:Oh, THAT Max! Maybe he went to go exploring? He always did have a knack for getting lost!
A giggle escaped her throat, but it lacked the warmth and humor of her previous personas. This was something colder, something more calculating.
Goku narrowed his eyes. He could sense the lie, the deliberate obfuscation. Something was very wrong. The shadows were listening, the Academy was no longer safe, and the students of Nexus were about to face a despair unlike anything they had ever known, orchestrated by a mastermind hiding in plain sight, and fueled by the disappearance of a seemingly ordinary boy named Max. The power he now wielded, and the darkness that controlled him, had already set the stage for a tragedy that would shake the very foundations of their interconnected worlds.
Goku took a step forward, his usual carefree demeanor replaced by a stern seriousness.
Goku:What did you do to him?
Junko's eyes widened, a manic glee creeping into them. The cutesy facade shattered completely, revealing the twisted architect of despair underneath. She threw her head back and laughed, a high-pitched, unnerving sound that echoed through the halls of the Nexus Academy.
Junko(teacher Persona): Oh, Goku, you always were so perceptive! But you're asking the wrong question! It's not what I did to him, it's what he did to himself! He had the potential for such magnificent despair, such utter, soul-crushing hopelessness! All I did was give him a little push!
She snapped her fingers, and the shadows around the room writhed and coalesced, forming grotesque shapes that mirrored the students' deepest fears. Kirishima recoiled, Bakugo snarled, and even the usually unflappable Ruby Rose felt a prickle of unease as Junko became sad.
Junko (Sad Persona): Poor little Max, just an ordinary guy caught in a world of extraordinary beings. He felt so inadequate, so powerless. And that's what made him so perfect! All that pent-up frustration, all that hidden resentment... it was just waiting to be unleashed!
She pointed a long, manicured finger at Goku.
Junko(diva Persona): And you, Goku! Always so strong, so optimistic! Don't you see? Hope is just a stepping stone to despair! The higher you climb, the further you have to fall! And Max... Max is going to make you fall hard!
