Still Monster Performance KBS – Behind the Scenes
The blinding stage lights flickered as Enhypen struck their final pose, the last note of Still Monster echoing through the venue of the Music Bank. The camera zoomed in on Sunghoon, his sharp eyes staring straight into the lens as he held his pose —two hands signaling a retreating pose from the camera as he was mouthing the words with an expression of denying 'I'm not a monster'.
He knew exactly what he was doing.
They all knew what they were doing. Their own impact after the performance release was well aware of. The song and the lyrics were well planned. A slow rhythmic performance - not so hyper, not too energetic. Instead, a catchy and well choreographed one with some deeper meanings.
And the main implication of the song?
Their inner struggles and insecurities. They were monsters. Those who could only be cured by someone's love and embrace.
🎵To me full of scars, you are my only savior
The way I see myself that only you taught me
I can only be myself when I'm by your side
I'm not a monster
How dare you baby (hey)
My heart longs for you
Even though I am such a monster (save me)
What is love to me
teaching love
In the end, the answer is always only you🎵As much truth as it held even to their actual lives, it was only possible if they had the time for that someone's love.
Just one moment to themselves, away from the intrusive eyes of the world
But it was wishful thinking. Even sitting down for a few minutes was a luxury.
The moment the camera light blinked red, signaling the end of the broadcast, the boys finally exhaled. The deafening sound of the audience and the production crew dimmed in their ears. Exhaustion settled into their bodies like a relentless tide. They were panting heavily, shoulders rising and falling as sweat dripped down their temples. The rush of adrenaline still coursed through their veins, but their breaths still rattled painfully in their chests.
Staff members quickly rushed onto the stage, handing out towels, fixing their damp hair, and offering water bottles. Some fussed over their outfits, ensuring they still looked picture-perfect in case of any post-performance interviews. But amidst the usual chaos, one scene stood out—Jake, breaking away from the group, sprinting towards a small pile of personal belongings near the stage's edge.
Not a single staff bothered to bring that before fixing their outfits and makeup.
Without hesitation, he grabbed the pair of crutches leaning against a chair and rushed back towards Jay, who had remained standing near the center of the stage, visibly struggling. Jay was pressing a hand against his knee, his other leg slightly bent, attempting to balance his weight as inconspicuous as possible. But Jake wasn't fooled.
"Dude, sit down," Jake ordered as he reached him, already positioning the crutches under Jay's arms.
"I'm fine," Jay muttered, though his expression twisted slightly as he shifted his weight.
Jake shot him a look, firm yet concerned. "Jay, don't start. Just take the crutches."
Jay sighed in defeat and let Jake help him hobble towards the nearest chair. As soon as he sat down, his body slumped back, his fingers brushed his damp silver hair and then rubbing against his temples. The strain from the performance was hitting him all at once now that the cameras were off.
