Song: Best- Gracie Abrams
I woke up to the sound of snickering.
Groggy and disoriented, I blinked my eyes open, taking a moment to register where I was. The room was dimly lit, the heavy green curtains of Mattheo's bed half-drawn, blocking out most of the morning light.
And then, I felt the warmth beside me.
Mattheo was still asleep, his arm lazily draped over his stomach, his face relaxed in a way I rarely saw when he was awake. For the second time since I'd arrived in my DR, I had woken up next to Mattheo Riddle. His dark lashes fanned over his cheekbones, his lips parted slightly, a faint smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth even in sleep.
For a second, I just watched him, warmth spreading through my chest.
Then, another round of muffled laughter caught my attention.
Frowning, I turned my head toward the other side of the room—and instantly groaned.
Sebastian, Draco, and Lorenzo stood there, huddled together, their faces lit up by the glow of their phones. They were clearly up to something.
"What the hell are you guys doing here?" I muttered, rubbing the sleep from my eyes.
At the sound of my voice, Sebastian grinned. "Ah! The princess has finally awoken!"
I rolled my eyes, already knowing this was going to be ridiculous. "You guys seriously have nothing better to do?"
"Come on, Moonvale, we wouldn't miss this for the world," Sebastian teased, smirking. "The two of you all curled up together? It's adorable."
Lorenzo chuckled. "More like hilarious."
I narrowed my eyes. "What are you talking about?"
Sebastian sauntered over, waving his phone in the air. "We may or may not have captured this precious moment forever."
He handed me his phone, and when I looked down at the screen, my stomach dropped.
The picture was of Mattheo and me, still tangled in each other's arms, fast asleep. My hair was splayed across his chest, his arm loosely wrapped around my waist. It was undeniably sweet—but the fact that they had taken a picture of it? Insane.
I felt my face heat up. "Are you fucking serious?"
Draco smirked, arms crossed. "Oh, very."
"You guys are fucking impossible," I muttered, burying my face in my hands.
Mattheo groaned beside me, shifting as he finally began to wake up. He blinked sleepily, then, as if by pure instinct, rolled his eyes before even seeing the cause of the commotion.
"I swear to Merlin—" His voice was rough with sleep, but still laced with irritation. "Get the fuck out."
Draco held his hands up in mock innocence. "Riddle, come on, you can't blame us for—"
"Now."
There was something in Mattheo's tone that sent all three of them scrambling.
Sebastian was the first to bolt, laughing as he shoved his phone into his pocket. "Alright, alright, we're going."
Draco and Lorenzo followed, but not without throwing us a few smug looks before disappearing out the door.
The second they were gone, Mattheo sighed, running a hand through his already-messy curls. "They are fucking insufferable."
