It's been one year since that incident, and Jun seemed to gave moved on perfectly fine, while Dylan was still madly in love and he hated it. So he covered it up with banters and bickering. So when Jun started flirting with their new director Po, he acted like none of it bothered him; but deep down he just wanted to run to his room and cry.
What's worse was how Thame was also in love with Po, and it was so obvious, he felt sad to see his friend feel insecure but he couldn't just blame Jun for having feelings for Po either. And even worse was the fact that Jun's efforts were in vain; Po was so in love with Thame and it was plain obvious.
"You still like him?" Nano asked one day during practice.
Dylan's eyes snapped to him, his heart racing. "What?"
"Come on, Phi," Nano said, he had an unreadable look on his face. "You can't hide it from me. You've had a crush on him since forever."
Nano has no idea what happened in the living room a year ago, the night Jun and Dylan decided to pretend as if they never had feelings for each other, Jun doesn't even acknowledge his existence anymore unless its fan service...and Dylan was okay.
He was doing just fine, or so he convinced himself. But every time he saw Jun and Po together, his heart felt like it was being squeezed in a vice. He had to remind himself that he was over it, that he had moved on. But the ache remained, a constant reminder of what could have been.
"Let's focus on the music," Dylan said, his voice a little too loud. "We have a comeback to prep for, remember?"
Thame nodded, his eyes never leaving the TV. "Right," he said, his voice strained. "The music."
Jun looked at Dylan for a moment longer, his eyes searching Dylan's face before he looked away. "Yeah," he said, before his eyes trailed back to Po. "The music."
The days leading up to the comeback were a flurry of activity, with rehearsals and photoshoots consuming their every waking moment. Yet, amidst the chaos, the tension between Dylan, Thame, Jun, and now added to the list Po remained, a silent storm brewing beneath the surface of their professional façade.
One evening, after a particularly grueling practice session, Dylan found himself unable to sleep, the weight of his unresolved emotions pressing down on him like a heavy blanket. He tossed and turned, the images of Jun's smiles, Thame's concerned looks, and the way Po's eyes sparkled when he talked about their new concept with Thame haunting his thoughts. Finally, he gave up and slipped out of bed, deciding to grab a midnight snack to clear his mind.
The kitchen was quiet, a stark contrast to the usual buzz of band activity. The only sound was the faint ticking of the clock on the wall. Dylan opened the fridge, the cold air providing a momentary relief from the heat of his own thoughts. He grabbed a carton of milk and a box of cookies before turning to leave.
As he was about to exit, he heard footsteps approaching. He braced himself, expecting it to be Thame or Nano, but instead, it was Jun. Dressed in just a pair of sweatpants and a loose t-shirt, his hair messy. They stared at each other for what felt like an eternity, the air thick with unspoken words.
"Couldn't sleep?" Jun asked, and Dylan couldn't remember the last time Jun has spoken to him in such a calm manner. It was always annoyance or frustration present in his voice when he talked to Dylan; as if Dylan was something that irritated him to his core.
"Yeah," Dylan said, his voice barely above a whisper. "Couldn't stop thinking ."
"Me too." Jun's voice was unusually soft, and for a moment, Dylan felt a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, they could finally talk about the elephant in the room.
