Thame had been ignoring Dylan for days now, and Dylan had no clue why.
Dylan walked into the rehearsal room expecting awkward glances and whispers but instead, he was met with the usual band banter. Nano was busy setting up the choreography while Thame and Jun were fixing in ear monitors, completely ignoring Dylan. It was like nothing had changed, except it had. The only one that did acknowledge his existence was Pepper, with a simple good morning.
Jun ignoring him was something he had grown used to but Thame? Thame ignoring him was last on Dylan's list for the worst things that could ever possibly happen.
"Morning," Dylan said blankly, sitting next to Thame.
Thame nodded back, not bothering to look at him. "Morning," he mumbled, his eyes glued to his phone.
Dylan took a deep breath, trying to ignore the sadness that washed over him. Rehearsal started, and he threw himself into the choreography, pushing his emotions aside as he had done countless times before. He wasn't sad because he wanted Thame's attention, but more because he could slowly feel his best friend pulling away from him.
But Dylan knew the drill, he had to keep his personal life out of the band, especially when it involved someone like Thame. So, he put on his stone cold face and danced his heart out, hoping that the physical exertion would help him forget about the emotional turmoil inside.
As the hours passed, the tension in the room grew thicker than the fog outside. Dylan's eyes kept flicking towards Thame, hoping for a glimpse of the warmth that once filled them when he looked at Dylan. But all he got were cold shoulder and brief instructions, it was like a knife twisting in his heart every time.
He was too scared to look at Jun, but his eyes betrayed his heart.
When their eyes met, Jun looked...sad.
While Dylan did feel like Thame was ignoring him, he may or may not have also completely ignored Jun's lingering gazes towards him.
Dylan knew that he had to stop this mess before their comeback. The last thing he wanted was to ruin the band's dynamics on stage. So he decided to talk to Thame first, because it felt like the more immediate issue at hand.
"Thame, we need to talk," Dylan said as he pulled Thame aside after rehearsal.
Thame looked up from his phone, his expression unreadable. "What is it?" he asked, his voice flat.
Dylan took a deep breath, trying to find the right words. "Look, I don't know why you're ignoring me, and I want to sort it out."
Thame's eyes searched Dylan's face, looking for something he wasn't sure he'd find. "It's nothing," he said, his voice tight. "Really." He tried to sound convincing.
Dylan's eyes narrowed, "It doesn't feel like nothing," he said, his voice firm. "You've been acting weird since that night at the restaurant."
Thame sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I just don't like the idea of you with someone else," he admitted, looking down at his feet.
"Thame what? No" Dylan's heart skipped a beat. "But you like Po," he said, his voice small.
Thame looked up at him, his eyes filled with something that resembled pain. "Do I?" He whispered, "I don't know anymore Dylan."
Dylan's heart was racing, his thoughts a mess. "What do you mean?"
Thame took a deep breath, "I mean, maybe I was wrong about my feelings for Po." He looked into Dylan's eyes, the words heavy on his tongue. "Maybe I was just scared to admit who I really like."
