For the next few days the whole school seemed to be talking about the attack on Filch's cat. Filch himself wasn't making it easier to forget about it, as he was often pacing around the spot where she's been found. Maybe he thought the attacker would come back for some reason? He also tried to clean the message on the wall, but to no effect.

When Filch wasn't at the place of the attack, he usually walked around the school and yelled at students for 'breathing too loudly' or 'looking too happy'.

He wasn't the only one bothered by the petrified cat. Ginny was also very disturbed by this, since as Ron told us, she was a great cat lover. So was Alice, but she didn't look as sad, maybe because she had other things to worry about in Slytherin, though she told me that it was now getting better, as all the Slytherins were becoming bored of bullying someone who didn't care anyways. She, of course, did care, but pretended not to and apparently it worked. She was now good friends with Ginny and Hermione, although she wasn't spending as much time with the second one, mainly because of our different schedules.

Ron: You haven't really got to know Mrs. Norris. Honestly, we're much better off without her.

Ron was trying to cheer Ginny up... at least I think that's what he was trying to do. It wasn't helping.

Ron: Stuff like this doesn't happen often at Hogwarts. They will surely catch the one who did it and expel him soon. I hope he's got time to petrify Filch first...

Me: Don't listen to him, Gin. The cat will be fine and Dumbledore will make sure to punish whoever did it.

What I said also didn't help much, but at least it didn't make Ginny sadder, unlike what Ron said.

Hermione also was visibly stressed after the attack. She was spending a lot of time at the library. More than before, that is.

It was obvious it was because of what happened to Mrs. Norris, but when we tried to ask her hat exactly was she reading, she ignored us.

After lunch me and Harry went to Ron, who was in the library and along the way we saw a Hufflepuff boy who I remembered from one of Herbology lessons. Justin Finch-Fletchley. Harry wanted to say hello, but before he even fully opened his mouth Justin saw us, turned around and ran away in the opposite direction.

Apparently he was one of the people who thought Harry was responsible for the attack.

We found Ron in the back of the library, measuring his History of Magic homework. Professor Binns asked for three-foot-long composition on European Wizards.

Ron: I don't believe it, I'm still eight inches short! Hermione's done four feet seven inches and her writing's tiny.

I grabbed the tape measure and measured mine.

Harry: Speaking of Hermione, where is she?

Ron: Somewhere over there, He said pointing along the shelves. Looking for another book. I think she's trying to read the whole library before Christmas.

Harry told Ron about Finch-Fletchley running away from us and Ron told him not to care about him.

Finally, Hermione walked out from behind the shelves.

Hermione: All copies of Hogwarts, A History' have been taken out, She said sitting next to me. And there's two-week waiting list. I wish I hadn't left my copy at home, but I couldn't fit it in my trunk with all the Lockhart's books.
