THE NIGHT DUMBLEDORE died had started out not too different from the others.

I had been writing a letter to Fred, we had been talking back and forth about how Harry and Ginny were now going out, when I needed to wee.

But when I had stepped out of the Hospital Wing to go down to the bathroom, I was surprised to see Bill Weasley in front of me.

"Bill!" I said and he turned to look at me.

"Oh, hello, Y/N." Bill said and I noticed he was holding his wand tightly.

"What are you doing here?" I asked him as I glanced around the corridor. "Is anyone else here?"

"Lupin and Tonks are somewhere in the castle." Bill answered. "Dumbledore's gone for a few hours, so we're just here in case. What are you here for?"

"I've been working in the Hospital Wing." I told him. "I was just going to the bathroom."

"Well, I'll walk with you then."

I nodded and brought my hand up to my mouth to chew on my fingernails as I walked with Bill down the hall.

"When did Fred propose?" Bill asked suddenly and I looked to my hand and dropped it back down to my side.

"Christmas eve." I replied, my face heating up. "You know, I wore it for the entirety of Christmas day. Maybe you would've noticed if you weren't busy being fed turkey by Fleur."

"Don't act like you and my brother weren't all over each other that same afternoon." Bill scoffed. "Do I have to remind you what I walked in on that evening?"

"Uh, no. No, thank you." I smiled sarcastically and Bill chuckled as we reached the girls bathroom. "Alright, Bill, I'll see you later, then."

"See you."

It was maybe two hours later when I walked out into the corridor again, it was completely empty. But in the distance I could hear yelling and explosions, like curses being shot around at people. My gut was telling me to stay away, and when I turned a corner to see a Death Eater with his wand pointed at me, I knew I should've listened to my gut.

I pulled out my own wand and pointed it at the man as he had started to shout, "Avada-"

"Stupefy!" The Death Eater went flying back into the air and crumpled to the ground.

From where I was inside the castle I had no idea that the Dark Mark had been floating above the Astronomy Tower.

It was probably a poor decision to start running towards the sound of the fight, but what could I say? I was my father's daughter after all.

When I reached the battle I found not only Remus, Tonks and Professor McGonagall, but Ron, Neville and Ginny too. They were each dueling with different Death Eaters, some more than one.
