Jake gathered his courage and went to look for Sunghoon, he eventually found him sitting by their school's football field. He approached him cautiously and took a seat before speaking.
"Hey, Sunghoon. Can we talk?"
Sunghoon looked up at Jake, his heart skipping a beat at the sound of his voice. He couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. He nodded his head
"Yeah, what's up?"Jake took a deep breath, trying to calm his nerves
"I have something important I need to tell you." Curiosity piqued, Sunghoon turned his attention fully towards Jake. He could sense the seriousness in his tone and braced himself for the impending news
"Alright, go ahead. I'm listening."
Jake swallowed the lump in his throat before continuing
"I just got a call from my dad. My mom's in the hospital, and I need to go back to Australia. I don't know how long I'll be gone, but I-I just wanted to let you know."
Sunghoon felt his heart sink at Jake's words. The news hit him like a truck, and he couldn't help but feel a wave of emotions wash over him. He tried to mask his feelings, but his voice betrayed him as he spoke
"Oh, I see...When are you leaving?"
Jake looked down at the grass, fidgeting with his fingers
"Tomorrow. My dad wants me to pack up some stuff and catch the first flight to Brisbane."
Sunghoon's mind raced, trying to process this information. The thought of Jake leaving so suddenly was overwhelming. He didn't want to show how much it affected him, but his eyes betrayed him, glistening with unshed tears
"Tomorrow? That's so soon..." He whispered to himself but jake could heard it.
Jake nodded, his expression solemn
"Yeah, it's really sudden. But I have to go. My mom needs me. But, there's something else I need to tell you..."
Curiosity and concern mixed together in Sunghoon's expression. He leaned in, silently encouraging Jake to continue. "Last night... that kiss during the truth or dare. It's been on my mind since then. And I just wanted to tell you that I didn't regret it. Not for a second."
"I didn't regret it either. I've been trying not to think about it, but ever since last night, it's all I can think about."
