Darkness Begets Dusk

I haven't seen the Denali coven since Bella and Edward's wedding. From what I do remember, it was an awkward setting. Despite Irina's quick dismissal of the event, the other members of the group were cordial and polite. But much has changed since then now with the arrival of Renesmee. I'm not sure how they'll react to her presence or mine. The last time they saw me, I was...well partly human. But the look on Edward's face at the door was buried in stress. 

Tanya asked, "Aren't you going to invite us in?". Edward let them in, but they knew something was wrong with the energy of the room. He gestured them to the living room. They saw both me and Jacob, which most likely added more concern into the mix. They weren't sure what was going on and what was the nature of this unusual invitation.

Tanya looked to us and said, "Maxwell and Jacob. It is good to see you both". I nodded and said, "Tanya. It is nice to see you in good health with your coven as well". Jacob said, "Hi". She also scanned me with her eyes and took notice with my...new appearance. Edward smiled and said, "Maxwell has become a member of our coven now. He is a Cullen".

Carmen approached me and gave me a small hug and a kiss on my cheek, "Welcome to the family", she said with delight. Kate nodded with respect, and Eleazar said, "Congratulations". Tanya gave me a small smile, but I knew she was on a mission. 

But Tanya was still unsure of the meaning of this whole ordeal. "Edward. I know there's more going on, your voice on the phone spoke another volume". He shook his head and said, "I mean that my entire family is in very grave danger. But before I explain, I ask for your promise. Listen to everything I say before you react. I am begging you to hear me out." She looked to me and asked, "Is it because of your transformation Maxwell?".

I responded, "No, that's not the reason for this Tanya. A miracle has happened, and it has been misconstrued". Kate replied with confusion, "A misconstrued miracle?". Jacob said, "Yes. But she is not the issue here". Carmen asked, "Who is she?". Jacob sighed and looked to me with worry. They may not understand, but we must try. Tanya said, "We will hear it all before we judge."

I had to step in again, "I promise you all, this is not a rule breaker". Edward looked like he was on Death Row. I whispered to Jake, "Whether they agree or not, we can at least look back and say we tried". He nodded and whispered, "I hope this doesn't get ugly".

In my mind, they may assume the exact same thing Irina thought. But an immortal child was a child that was turned into a vampire. Those children became uncontrollable and tragic figures. My heart weeps for those poor babies. It makes me think about the newborns that Victoria had created. 

More lost souls in a thoughtless endeavor at the expense of the vampire and the population. Nessie was born half vampire, so that whole narrative is entirely unconnected, but the fear in that history is damming.

Carlisle, Esme, Bree, Rosalie, and Emmett entered the space. Tanya looked to Carlisle and said, "Carlisle! I was beginning to worry even further". Esme replied, "We are as okay as we can be Tanya". Bree said with concern, "That's all we can do". Eleazar asked, "Where's Bella?". Emmett replied, "She's...in the other room". Rosalie put her hand on her lover's shoulder in comfort. Tanya looked around and said, "Where's Alice and Jasper?". 

I said, "They had other plans and they're not here at the moment right now". Kate said, "What the hell is going on?". Rose said, "Just...please be patient". Carlisle said, "Edward. I think it's time to just let everything out in the open".

Edward steadied himself and called out to Bells, "All right, then. Bella? Bring out Renesmee, please." I held my breath and I squeezed Jacob's hand out of fear. He whispered, "I'm here remember". I nodded as Bella held Nessie's small hand and walked her out into the space. The Denali coven were stunned by her presence, and I thought a brawl would happen.
