Ophelia's POV

Thea's been off today. I don't know what is up but my brain is very consistent on the fact that it might be about me. Of course, I don't know that. She seemed to be okay around me this morning.

Her half-smiles made my heart ping, if that's even a way to phrase it. She looks so heartbreakingly beautiful and I haven't even seen her at her worst. Assuming that I haven't seen her at her worst.

After our conversation this morning, I know there is something weighing on her. I just have to wait for her to be ready to share. Normally, I'm a patient person but in this instance I want to help her. And I don't know how to do that unless she's ready to talk.

Otherwise focusing on some positives, today has been a lovely dreary day. I absolutely love the gloomy clouds and light downpour. The pit pat of the raindrops on the windows and in puddles.

After second period, I make my way to the lunch room and spot the group hanging around like normal. I quickly walk up and stand next to the shortest person, Thea.

This morning, she seemed to lean into my touch, whether it was my arm on her shoulder or holding onto me. Of course, I took note of that.

Trying to be as nonchalant as I can while my heart is beating out of my chest, I lay my arm cross her shoulders again. I can feel Thea's eyes burn into my face, questioning my action. I continue to look forward despite her gaze.

It's when I feel another that I look to Thea's other side and notice her boyfriend. My mood immediately sours internally but I keep my face cool. His arms are crossed and it almost seems like he's trying to glare at me but doesn't know what to believe. I smile politely.

Another thing I took note of: Chance barely touched Thea at all this morning. And whenever he did, she had almost no reaction. Must be my lucky day.

After a few minutes of everyone meeting up for lunch, Chase must realize he has no contribution to the group and since his girlfriend's currently on my arm, he leaves. Thank god.

As everyone's discussing what they want to do for lunch, I lean down to Thea's ear and whisper, "Where do you wanna go, Goffa?"

She blushes and looks up at me questioningly after I move slightly away from her ear. She gestures for me to lower my head and cups a hand around my ear. "First, what is that nickname?" she giggles slightly, "Second, I'm feeling Taco Bell.. is that weird?"

I laugh and shake my head. I grab our backpacks and grab Thea's hand. "Where are y'all going?"

I stop as Bev questions us and turn around. "We're done waiting for you guys so we're going to get food. We'll see y'all after school," I state and begin walking again as Bev gives a thumbs up. Thea turns back to smile and wave.

Once we make it to my truck, I toss our backpacks on the bench in the back of the cab and open Thea's door. She hops up, with some effort as the truck is a little high. I shut her door and head to the driver's door. Hopping in, I connect my phone to the bluetooth and hand it to Thea without a word.

"What is this for?" she asks.

"For music," I reply as I begin to back out of my parking spot.

She begins scrolling through music on my phone and I begin to worry on whether she's going through my personal playlists. Most I wouldn't mind if she looked through but there is one or two that would be slightly embarrassing, if you know what I mean.

My fear is confirmed when she says, "You have good taste in music. All your playlists are like perfectly curated," she continues to scroll on my phone screen.
