In an alternate universe, Midoriya had long since embraced her new form—and so did the people around her. However, it wasn’t until she found herself standing in front of Hawks that she realized how much her life had changed in unexpected ways.
And how much she appreciated the man who showed up in the most unexpected ways.

Feathers and Training
The first time Midoriya met Hawks was during a joint hero training session. Her form was still shifting, still adjusting. But when the professional hero was assigned to be her partner for the day, everything changed.
“Ready to show me what you’ve got?” Hawks asked with a grin, wings fluttering behind him.
“U-Um, yes! Let’s do this!” Midoriya squeaked out, trying to adjust to her new body.
Hawks raised an eyebrow. “Hey, hey. No need to be shy, kid. You’ve got fire in your eyes. I like it.”
Midoriya fought her nervousness as the mission began. But through every challenge, every moment of struggle, Hawks was there—picking her up, offering guidance, cracking jokes to ease her nerves. The bond between them grew quickly.
After the mission was over, they sat together, breathing heavily.
“That was... intense,” Midoriya remarked.
“Yeah, but you held your own,” Hawks said, chuckling. “If you ever need a partner, you know where to find me. And if you need a training partner for some winged speed drills, I’m your guy.”
Midoriya smiled, grateful. “Thank you, Hawks. You were amazing out there.”
“Yeah, well, gotta keep my reputation up.” He grinned, eyes glinting mischievously. “Besides, I don’t think I’ll let my new favorite hero fall behind.”

Feathers, Flirting, and Fun
As the days passed, their bond grew stronger. Hawks made it a habit to visit Midoriya at the dorms to check on her progress. He’d bring food—usually fried chicken—and a new training challenge.
“Here’s the deal, kid. You want to get better? You gotta keep up. Follow my lead.”
“Wait, fried chicken for training?” Midoriya asked, eyeing the food suspiciously.
“Hey, don’t knock it ’til you try it. A hero’s gotta eat right.”
She took a cautious bite. “...This is actually amazing.”
“I know, right?” Hawks grinned. “See, I’m not all wings and flashy entrances. I’ve got skill. And fried chicken wisdom.”
Midoriya laughed, feeling the warm sensation of her heart racing.
“What else do you have, ‘Master of the Skies?’” she teased.
Hawks leaned back in his chair, grinning lazily. “Well, I’ve got a lot of secrets, but I’m happy to share... if you’re up for the challenge.”

Hawks’ Real Feelings
One night, after a particularly dangerous mission, they found themselves sitting outside together, the sky heavy with stars.
“I’m glad you’re okay,” Midoriya said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.
“Yeah. Me too,” Hawks replied, eyes never leaving her. “But I’m more glad that you’re... you know, here with me. I’ve been thinking about that a lot.”
“What do you mean?” Midoriya asked, turning her head toward him.
“I mean... I care about you, Izuku. A lot. More than I thought I would.” His words were soft, uncharacteristically serious.
Midoriya’s heart skipped. “Hawks...”
He gave her a small, confident smile. “I’m not good with feelings, and I’m definitely not good at saying things without making it sound like a joke. But, you make me want to be better. And I’m okay with that.”
Midoriya smiled warmly, leaning her head against his shoulder. “Hawks... you don’t have to be perfect. I like you just the way you are.”

The First Kiss
Before she could say anything else, Hawks leaned in, his wings brushing against her back. Their lips met—slow, tentative, but full of meaning. It wasn’t anything dramatic or explosive. It was... peaceful. Comforting.
And, for once, Midoriya felt like she was exactly where she was supposed to be.
