Neteyam pov.
"So where are the Ikran?" Tsireya asks after everyone has caught their breath.
"Up there." I say pointing to a floating rock up in the sky.
"More climbing!?" Aonung whines.
"Ahaha! No from here we call them." I say laughing at Aonungs cute whining.
"EeeeAah!" Kiri let's out a call to her Ikran. Rotxo turns to look at her in amazement. They would be cute together.
"AaAhie!" I call to my Ikran next. All Omatikaya use similar calls so there isn't a unique call for each Ikran and their rider. Ikran recognize their riders voice.
The Metkayina let gasps out as Kiri's Ikran swoops down mine close behind. Each landing in front of us.
"Hey boy how you been?" I say patting my Ikrans head. I hear Lo'ak call his Ikran and it flies down as well.
"I wish I had an Ikran!" Tuk whines as she pats my Ikran next to me.
"Why don't you have one?" Aonung asks her as he keeps a fearful eye on the Ikran.
"She was to young to bond with one when we left the forest." I answer as i pat Tuk's head on my way to tighten the harness on my Ikran.
"They are beautiful!" Tsireya says from her spot patting the head of Lo'ak's Ikran. I look over at Kiri and Rotxo who is slowly approaching Kiri's Ikran.
"Aren't you going to call yours Mila?" Aonung asks her as she just stands there looking at our Ikran.
"Oh uh yeah. Ahem- AaEea!" She calls for her Ikran. A loud screech following her call. I watch eyes wide as a big Ikran flies down and lands next to her with another loud screech.
"An Ikraruk..." Kiri says looking at the creature as it nuzzles it's head against Mila's torso slightly pushing her back.
I watch in amazement as the large creature rubs against Mila while she laughs at it softly. She really is special.
"Hey buddy. I missed you too." She says hugging it's head to her and placing a kiss on its head.
"Why is yours bigger?" Aonung asks her while taking a step back from the big creature.
"That's an Ikraruk. A half-breed of Ikran and Toruk." I answer as I carefully step closer.
"You can pet him, he won't bite." Mila said before reaching over and grabbing my hand pulling my closer and setting my hand on the Ikraruks head.
"Wow." I laughed quietly as i rubbed the creature under my hand softly.
"His name is Baloo. It's from a sky people story." Mila said from next to me as she smiled at her Ikraruk. She's so pretty when she smiles.
"Can we go already!?" Tuk whined from behind me. I laughed and walked over to her but not before giving Mila one last glance.
"Who do you want to ride with?" I said picking my little sister up.
"With you!" She practically screamed in my ear.
"Ok then!" I said and set her on top of my Ikran.
"I guess I'll take Tsireya then." Lo'ak said as he climbed onto his Ikran and held a hand out for Tsireya.
"I'm not taking Aonung so Rotxo is riding with me." Kiri said mounting her Ikran.
"Wait! I have to get on that thing!?" Aonung said with a scared look in his eyes.
"Why, you scared fish boy?" I teased him as I got on my Ikran behind Tuk.
"What? Nooo...." He denied it but still looked at the Ikraruk with fear. It hissed at him a little when their eyes met.
"Don't look him in the eyes." Mila said pushing her Ikraruks head to the side to break the eye contact. She made tsaheylu with it closing her eyes and a small smile graced her plump lips. She opened her bright eyes and climbed up onto the back of her Ikraruk.
"Come on Aonung don't be scared." She said with a smirk holding one of her four fingered hands down to Aonung. He looked at her hand for a second before grabbing it gently with his.
I didn't miss how her smirk falterd slightly at the skin contact. In a moment she was pulling him up onto the Ikraruk behind her. I felt my smile diminish as Aonung wrapped his muscular arms around her torso.
The problem was I wasn't sure who I was jealous of. Mila or Aonung. In some odd way it felt like both.
The jealousy only grew as I saw a touch of pink on Mila's cheeks and on Aonungs ears.
