Chapter Three:

Coming to terms

Once the train had come to a stop they could already hear the cheers of the Capital citizens. And when Raven Gray and Sila looked out the windows they could see the citizens all lined up just to see if they could get a glimpse of Raven Gray Callow and Silas Barnes, excited to see who they could bet on, what children they would watch die in the upcoming week. Raven Gray and Silas Barnes held hands as they got off the train and were greeted by the excited Capital Citizens, who fawned over them.

Once they got out of the crowd Raven Gray and Silas were split up once again after they got to the Remake Center and the next hours she hated every second of. They bathed her, and trimmed and washed her hair, waxed every hair on her arms and legs, trimmed her eyebrows, she felt like she was a cow being prepped for auction, which was pretty close to what was about to happen, after all the chariot parade would show how you represented your district, it was the first real impression you had against the Capital and your fellow tributes. Once they deemed Raven Gray clean enough they took her to a separate room, and she waited. She sat up and stared at the room around her. Every second she thought of her pa. Everything she was going through he must have gone through. Her train of thought was interrupted by the door opening revealing a young man.

"Hello beautiful, my name is Atticus Blythe." He introduced himself. "But you can just call me Atticus."

"Hello. Raven Gray." She said.

"You're nervous, I get it, if it makes you feel any better this is my very first year styling but I had the best mentor and I can assure you I am here to make you look amazing, I always say the first impression is the most important, you build your character on that." Atticus said. It seemed all of District 10's saying was first impressions were the best.

"Yeah, it's my first time being here too." Raven Gray joked.

"You'll do great, kid, and your partner is in excellent hands with my partner." Atticus said, and he began to work his magic.

It's safe to say she felt ridiculous, she felt at home but the outfit was way more extra than what they wore to the ranches. A full cowgirl getup with brown wide pants with fringe, the top was long sleeved that went all the way from her wrists to the necks which was covered in frills, along with a corset with over exaggerated cow design, made from the real hide, she could tell, along with an obnoxious trench coat with patches of cow hide all over it. It kinda of matched her whimsy dresses back home but back home was more color and less cow print. Her hair was half up half down feathers intertwining with her hair, and as any cowboy ensemble a cowboy hat with antlers on top with decorated flowers from 10. Her makeup also had cow print and different white and black splotches in a pattern, exaggerated eyeliner and a pinkish nude lip. Raven gray had never worn makeup in her life and the second it was on her face she wanted to take it off.
