The house was quiet, except for the soft ticking of the living room clock.
Mr. Jung returned from his office late in the evening, loosening his tie as he stepped inside.
Mrs. Jung: She didn’t eat. She came home straight after school and locked her door. She hasn’t said a word since.
A worried look crossed Mr. Jung’s face. Without saying anything, he picked up the dinner tray.
Mr. Jung: Come with me.
Together, they walked upstairs to Yn’s room. Her door was locked, the silence behind it heavy.
Mr. Jung: Yn, sweetheart… open the door.
Yn: I don’t want to talk to you! Just go away!
Mrs. Jung: Baby, please…
raising his voice slightly, but still loving
Mr. Jung: Yn. Open the door, or I’ll wait here all night.
A few seconds passed. Then came the sound of a soft click.
Yn stood there, eyes red, her face pale. She moved aside silently to let them in.
Her father walked over, setting the tray on her desk.
They site beside her
Mr. Jung: I know this is hard. Believe me, I didn’t want to drag you into this. But I can’t leave you here alone… Do you know how much I love you?”
Yn looked down, her throat tightening.
Mr. Jung: How can I be in another country, doing something so important, knowing my daughter is alone, far away? I need you with me. Not just as your father… but because I wouldn’t survive being without you.
That broke her.
Yn in a soft, cracked whisper
Yn: Okay… I’ll go.
Mrs. Jung smiled through teary eyes and hugged her tight.
Mr. Jung leaned in and kissed her forehead.
They fed her gently, just like when she was little — and after a few minutes of quiet, they kissed her goodnight and left the room.
The Next Morning
Yn walked through campus, heading to collect her transfer certificate.
She had tried calling Jackson before leaving home, but he hadn’t picked up. Her heart felt restless.
As she passed through one of the quieter corridors, she froze.
Right there — at the end of the hallway — was Jackson.
And he wasn’t alone.
His lips were locked with someone else’s. Not just any girl.
Her friend.
Jenny
Yn’s heart dropped like a stone in her chest.Yn: Jackson!
They pulled apart. Jackson blinked like he was barely surprised.
Jackson: Oh… Yn. Hey, how are you?
Yn choking on her words
Yn: Don’t pretend. What… what are you doing with her? You know I love you.
Jackson start laughing
Jackson :You love me? Really, Yn?”
He stepped toward her, his voice low and venomous.
Jackson: You can’t make any guy happy. You never let me touch you. You think love is enough? It’s not. Not for a girl like you.
Yn (shaking): You… said you loved me.
Jackson (smirking coldly):
Yeah, I said that because I didn’t want to break your little heart. No one in this school wants you. No guy’s even touched you. I thought I could be nice, but honestly? You’re not perfect. You don’t have anything a man craves. She stood frozen for a moment, eyes wide, soul cracking.
Then she turned — and ran.
Yn cried into her pillow until her voice gave out. Her body trembled beneath the blanket. No calls. No texts. Just pain.
The Next Morning
The house buzzed with quiet preparation. Suitcases by the door. Tickets in hand.
Yn came downstairs, sunglasses hiding her swollen eyes.
Mr. Jung: Sunglasses? That’s unusual for you.
Yn (forcing a light smile):
It’s just… too sunny outside, that’s all.He gave a small nod, sensing something but choosing not to press.
Mr. Jung: Alright then… let’s go.
And just like that… they left behind everything.
