Chapter 47: Section E Goes Shopping
"Hoy, bakla, I am not wearing this floral tie!" Felix yelled, holding up the hideous accessory like it personally offended him.
"Then wear the glitter one!" Jay Jay snapped back, already decked out in a cream blazer and oversized sunglasses like he was the head of the prom committee—and maybe he was at this point.
It was a Saturday, and Section E had taken over an entire floor of a department store for prom prep. How they got permission? No one really knew. Probably Mica's sweet-talking or Mayo threatening the store clerk with his dramatic monologues.
Y/N walked beside CI-N, who was bouncing beside her with a banana milk in one hand and a bucket hat too small for his curls. “Ate Y/N, promise mo ha, you’ll wear something that makes everyone jaw drop. Yung tipong magiging statue si Yuri sa hallway.”
“Statue siya kahit wala pa kong suot,” she said dryly.
“Oo nga,” CI-N whispered, dramatically holding his heart.
Meanwhile, Yuri was being dragged by Drew and Calix to try on a white suit. “Basta pre, trust the vision,” Calix insisted.
“Calix, your vision last time made me wear a neon green polo. I looked like a walking highlighter,” Yuri grumbled.
“Exactly. You stood out.”
Jay Jay, now holding two clipboards, marched down the aisle. “Keifer! Keifer! Where’s Keifer? You’re the visual of this section, you have to slay.”
“Visual daw o,” Rakki snorted from the shoe section, sitting cross-legged like a goddess while Mica massaged her shoulders. “Where’s my prom date, huh? I might go with myself at this point.”
Back in the fitting rooms, Kit and Mayo had locked themselves inside. Nobody knew what was happening, but the suspicious silence made Felix knock. “Kung may love confession kayo diyan, bilisan niyo! I need the mirror!”
Inside, Kit whispered to Mayo, “Are you sure they don’t know?”
“I’m sure,” Mayo said. “We’re too lowkey.”
Meanwhile, outside:
“They’re definitely dating,” CI-N said, deadpan.
Everyone nodded.
Y/N was trying on a black satin dress when she stepped out, and the entire section froze.
Yuri, standing with a half-buttoned shirt and loosely tied tie, looked at her like the world stopped.
“Damn,” Drew whispered. “Call the ambulance.”
“Forget the ambulance, call the fire department,” Calix added.
Jay Jay’s eyes sparkled. “You are my masterpiece. My Mona Lisa. My—”
“She didn’t ask for your opinion,” Yuri finally spoke, walking up and handing her a pair of earrings. “These would match.”
Y/N blinked. “You’ve been holding earrings?”
“Maybe,” he shrugged. “Maybe I just wanted to see you try them on.”
The group: WHEEEEEEEEW.
CI-N nearly choked on his banana milk.
Felix fake-fainted. “Somebody sedate me!”
Later, after hours of chaos, fashion wars, and trying to keep Felix from buying a pink tux, the group walked out of the mall loaded with shopping bags and empty wallets.
“Next stop,” Jay Jay announced. “Makeovers. Spa day. Facials. Let’s fix Mica’s pores.”
“Hoy gago!” Mica yelled.
As they walked, Y/N fell into step with Yuri, quiet for a moment.
“You looked… wow,” Yuri muttered, rubbing his neck.
Y/N smiled. “You didn’t look bad yourself, statue boy.”
He chuckled. “So… prom, huh?”
She glanced at him sideways. “You planning to ask someone?”
He gave her a smirk. “Maybe I already did. You just didn’t notice.”
And with that, he walked ahead, leaving Y/N blushing as the group exploded in teasing again.
