The conversations at the living room all came to a halt when the sounds of heels clicking against the marble tiles like drums echoed as she walked downstairs.
My father's expression turned stern, mother's eyes narrowed in disdain, my sister aurora's lisp were
Pressed together. They mirrored my expression— cold, full of hatred, disdain.Everyone watched as she walked downstairs. The tension in the living room was palpable. Evelyn reached the bottom of the stairs.
Aurora walked over as she slapped her across her face, as Evelyn's face turned to the side. Mother and father exchanged approving glances at their daughter's antics.
Evelyn's cheek had a red imprint. Her expression remained serene...as if she didn't just kill her sister and the one I had loved.
"You're so stupid," Aurora said as she jabbed a finger at Evelyn's face, her voice filled with anger and hatred for Evelyn.
Evelyn just remained silent as Aurora muttered something under her breathe and turned around , sitting back down beside mother.
I watched Evelyn's face, searching for a crack or any sign that she was breaking down...but none. I scoffed rolling my eyes.
"What do you want? A invitation to ask you to come sit?," my mother said, her voice disapproving and filled with cruelty.
Evelyn walked over and sat down. Atleast she had enough knowledge to know not to sit with me. She sat at the empty couch.
It was a good thing to keep three couch at the living room.
I started to chat with my family, completely ignoring Evelyn , my parents and sister did the same as they barely paid a cent of attention nor glance.
She watched as we chatted, ignoring her presence like she never existed...she should have never existed. Evelyn should never have...existed.
My eyes glance at her at one point as I saw, Evelyn was quietly watching us talk...She was so quiet that for a second I forgot she was even in the room.
The difference in two sisters was unmistakable. Jasmine was talkative, gentle and kind—something that had caught my attention.
While Evelyn was quiet, calm and genuinely seemed so boring. God,if someone ever fell for this woman they don't know what kind of vixen she was.
Aurora's voice jolted me out of my thoughts. "Brother!," she began. "Why are you even married to her? Why just not let her die?," she asked raising a brow, her expression of curiosity as she looked at me but the moment she glances at Evelyn, her eyes narrowed in disdain, lips curled in a sneer.
I hummed as I arched a brow. Mother and father seems curious by my answer too. "Well..," I began slowly. "So I could torture her after all. Having her married to me so I could have her feel the pain she inflicted on Jasmine," I said with a cold, cruel smile.
My parents exchanged amused glances as they smiled proudly. Aurora gasped dramatically though her eyes betrayed her, her eyes glinted with approval and cruel amusement.
Evelyn stiffened as she heard us talk. Our voices weren't low, deliberately loud so she could hear us.
I wanted to see her crack...see her cry, feel the pin she had inflicted upon jasmine and the pain she caused to everyone who once adored her. I chuckled coldly at the thought.
It wasn't that she had people she adored but everyone hated her now...the whole world knew her cruelty and I had managed to not let her get sent to prison because I had created a golden cage for her.
One where she couldn't escape and no one could help her even if they tried to.
