[Hey, how were the results?]
Shi Qingxuan texted him.
Oh well, Xie Lian's assuming Shi Qingxuan has passed, because if he fails, no body deserves to pass.
Qingxuan knows his weakness, so he works hard, VERY hard, that guy studies everyday without fail. And that's something Xie Lian can't do, he's too lazy for that.
[I have a sup in chemistry //results attachment//] he decides to send his results as he's too lazy to explain.
[Where's the problem? You've passed]
[Ohh is it the practical?]
[Don't worry, you'll clear....it's just the practical, the way I know you...you can't possibly let this slide]
Qingxuan knows Xie lian more than anyone, he's the laziest but also the most competitive. He remembers one time during their second year, Xie Lian went for sports in another province, so he couldn't manage to write the CA's that were coincidentally being written in that same week he would be gone for....so between school and sports, he choose sports with the hope that he'll write makeup tests when he gets back. He came back and wrote makeups for most of them, he was then given assignments in place of what he missed for other courses. But there was one lecturer that wasn't so accommodating, he's in charge of Research Methodology. In the Mid-Term 1 test, Xie Lian went for sports and missed it, then in the End of Term 1 test...he got a 55%, pretty average. When Xie lian went to ask for a makeup of the test he missed, the lecturer scolded him by asking if he came here to play chess or to get a diploma and at the end of scolding, he refused to give him a makeup. Xie Lian, being too lazy to beg and plead, simply gave up on that CA. Long story short, when they ushered in the second term. In the Mid-Term test and End of Term 2 tests....he got 88% and 95% respectively, highest in his class and successfully balanced out his missed CA. Surprised by his outstanding scores, the Research lecturer quietly added a 50% to his missed Mid-Term 1 Test. When Xie Lian heard about that outcome later in Term 3, he was pleasantly surprised.
So something like this supp is most likely a wake-up call for him, it's surprising that he got away with a supp and not a repeat course, because this child never studied much for this exam at all, he just casually glanced at his notes and went through some past papers and went to write....sigh, life truly isn't fair. Anyway, he'll be fine, him failing will just be as a result of the lecturers will.
[Yeah, I'll be fine]
This the last reply Qingxuan got from Xie Lian.
~A week later~
Xie Lian went back to his dorm room, where he found his roommates had already reported.
His school has a 4 students per room setup for all students, then 2 per room in the senior hostels that are only reserved for third years and those with disabilities that can't manage being in a room with 4 people.
He transferred to this hostel from his previous toxic hostel, everyone there was toxic; his roommates were loud and wild, there was a first year pharmacy student acting up, it was so annoying...he requested for a transfer.
When he got there, apart from Mu Qing and Feng Xin, there was a new face, probably a first year.
You can tell by how he's dressed so nicely even indoors where people are literally naked, everything about him is screaming freshman.
Xie Lian sets his suitcase aside as he makes his way to his bed.
"Hello there" Xie Lian tries to be amiable and sociable for once.
"Hi, how are you" Replies the freshman
"I'm surviving, thanks for asking"
'I'll only be fine once I clear that supp'
"How was home?" Greets Feng Xin with enthusiasm
"You didn't cry when you saw that supp right?" Mu Qing jokingly teases.
"I was too busy distracting myself with games to pay attention to that"
Looking at Xie lian trying to brush it off, Mu Qing presses on, "look at you lying with a straight face, I'm sure you've finished the course curriculum already"
Xie lian turns to Mu Qing and deadpans, "I did that last year, I'll just revise and be done with it because I've forgotten almost everything, all I remember are Xylines or whatever that was"
The fresher looks at him like he's an alien, "you....you have a supp? In what course?"
Xie lian looks back at him and pauses for a moment. That look, he can already tell that the child has been brainwashed into thinking that having a supp is the end of the world.
"How old are you child" This looks like a spoiled rich kid
"18 years old, I'm also studying Pharmacy, in my first year" The child adds thoughtfully
Turning-21-year-old Xie lian looks at him with a pained expression, 'sheesh, that's too young, I remember completing high school with 17 years and refusing to go to college at 18 years old, but eventually succumbed and went when I was 19......but this kid agreed to come here at 18!? That's worse than torture, ohh well.'
"It's not that bad, I was recently orphaned and my parents left me a will, hoping the money would go to my schooling..." Seeing Xie lian's expression, the child felt the need to clarify.
'Ohhh, orphaned rich kid then' he internally tells himself off for being so rude
"Alright, I'm your senior, pending third year Xie Lian, what's your name child?"
Mu Qing scoffs, "pending!? really?, you already are a third year, that supp is just a formality"
"I'm Lan Qingqiu and wow, you're a third year?! You look so young, I thought you'd be a second year at most" The admiration in his eyes are hard to conceal, a bit of jealousy in them as well, wishing he was the one close to finishing his schooling.
"Yeah, you go through some shit at this school, firstly...I'd like to congratulate you on voluntarily stepping into the hell that is pharmacy...this school has made this program unbelievably hard and has a tendency of 'losing peoples results' or so they call it, I hope you won't be one of the unlucky victims. And because of their tough curriculum, a diploma from here is more respected than a degree from a university. This is where the foundation is, so study hard."
Hearing the last part, Mu Qing can't help adding, "look who's talking, I don't think you deserve to tell others to study hard, you've never studied much at all!!"
Xie Lian scoffs at that, "you want the child to follow in my lazy footsteps?" He then turns to Qingqiu, "don't listen to them...as if anyone would get anywhere without studying, I do study...just not for long and not everyday. I sometimes study for a week straight then procrastinate for 3 months, that's me, but can not be others...everyone's different, just look for a studying method that will work for you."
He orients the child as he cleans his bed and spreads his sheets neatly, "most importantly, decide on the type of student you want to be, if you want to be like me, then you don't need to put in much effort to the point where you sacrifice your social life and hobbies, you just need to be aware that you are in school."
Then thinking of his committed friend, he adds "but if you want to be like Qingxuan, then study relevant things each and everyday. Have you ever heard of those people that study everyday but still fail at the end of the year? It's because they study irrelevant things!! So good luck child, remember, I was once like you~"
After listening to all that, Qingqiu only has one thought in mind about his impression of Xie lian so far.....'lazy genius living life on easy mode'
