The night grew darker, and the air in the forest began to thicken with malevolence. A mist crept across the ground like silent claws slithering over the leaves—unnatural, cold, and pulsing with ominous magic. But it wasn't just the enemy's doing.

Lucas had released him.

From the depths of the Foggy Forest—the most treacherous and forbidden part of the realm—Lucas had once ventured alone, long before joining the Academy. There, he had formed a contract with a powerful, elusive entity. A creature so bound to the ancient mists of the forest, it was known only as Nyxian—the Phantom Warden (Griffin - Half Eagle, half lion).

Now, as Lucas stood on the edge of the abyss where Adonis's trail had ended, he summoned it.

He raised his staff high, and in a voice laced with ancient command, he chanted in a forgotten tongue. A sharp gust of wind sliced through the trees as the sigils beneath his feet glowed in fog-blue light.

From within the mist, a shape emerged—massive, four-legged, and spectral. Its eyes glowed like twin moons, and its body was half-real, half-illusion, always shifting. A wraith-beast cloaked in shadow and wind.

Cassius stepped back instinctively. "What... is that thing?"

Lucas didn't take his eyes off the creature. "This... is Nyxian. My familiar. He was bound to me by blood and magic. And tonight, we tear through the veil to get Adonis back."

Crown Prince Zavier narrowed his eyes. "Will it lead us to her?"

Lucas nodded. "It's already found her. Nyxian can move through barriers of illusion and corrupted magic. He's already marked the Collector's lair."

Without wasting another second, Lucas mounted Nyxian's back and looked at the rest of the group. "I'm going ahead. You'll only slow me down. But when I return with Adonis—be ready to cover us."

"Lucas—" Winston began.

But Lucas cut him off with rare steel in his voice. "No time. You all trust me, right? Then trust me with her."

With that, he and Nyxian vanished into the fog, leaving the others behind.

Deep in the Obsidian Chamber...

Adonis struggled against the magical restraints. Her magic resisted but was continuously suppressed by the runes etched into the obsidian walls.

The Collector, still cloaked in shadow, prepared an incantation. "The convergence begins soon. Your power will open the seal, willingly or not."

Adonis bit back her fear. "You'll regret this."

A sudden wind howled through the chamber, unnatural and sharp. The Collector paused. "What...?"

The shadows along the wall began to twitch.

Then, from the darkness itself, Nyxian emerged—fangs bared, body stretching larger than the chamber should allow, claws glowing with spectral flame. With a thunderous roar, the runes around Adonis shattered like glass under pressure.

"What is this creature!?" the Collector snarled, his voice finally cracking in alarm.

Before he could react, Lucas teleported into the chamber in a flash of blue light. His cloak whipped around him as he raised his staff, chanting a high-tier disintegration spell. The runes surrounding the sealing circle cracked.

"Get away from her," Lucas growled, voice dripping with arcane power.

The Collector attempted to retaliate with a surge of corrupted energy, but Nyxian intercepted, snarling and lashing forward, ripping through the attack like mist through sunlight.

Lucas dashed to Adonis's side, kneeling and quickly removing the remnants of the restraints with a flick of his hand.

"You came..." Adonis murmured, her voice weak but eyes fierce.

Lucas helped her to her feet. "Of course I did. You think I'd let some robed freak touch you?"

Adonis smiled faintly despite the chaos. "You brought him..."

Nyxian let out a guttural, proud rumble.

"Time to go," Lucas said. "Hold onto me."

As the Collector gathered energy for another spell, Lucas chanted, "Nyxian, return us to the threshold!"

The wraith-beast howled and enveloped them in fog. In a heartbeat, they disappeared from the chamber just as the Collector's attack hit empty space, shattering the obsidian behind them in fury.

Back in the forest clearing...

The group waited with weapons drawn and tension burning in their bones.

Then the mist returned.

From it emerged the massive form of Nyxian, and atop his back—Lucas and Adonis, barely conscious but alive.

Winston was the first to reach them. "Dona!"

He pulled her down gently and held her, tears of relief in his eyes. "I thought I lost you again..."

Adonis smiled weakly. "Not... this time."

Lucas dismounted, swaying from magical exhaustion. "She's safe. The Collector's lair is collapsing. But this won't be the last time."

Zavier placed a hand on Lucas's shoulder. "You did well."

Asher exhaled deeply. "Remind me never to piss you off, Lucas."

Elizabeth nodded in agreement. "That familiar... is terrifying. But wow... thank you."

Cassius looked at Adonis, then at Lucas, and nodded solemnly. "You brought her back. That's all that matters."

Lucas turned to the group. "We need to regroup. The real battle is just beginning. He wanted Adonis for the seal. That means the devil... is nearly ready to rise."

Everyone stood in silence.

And above them, the moon vanished behind a sudden, unnatural eclipse.

The world was about to change.

Forever.
