The moon hung low over the forest, casting an eerie glow through the dense canopy. The air was thick with tension, and the usual sounds of nocturnal creatures were conspicuously absent. The group had gathered near the campfire, their faces illuminated by its flickering light, each lost in their thoughts.
Adonis sat at the center, her expression a mixture of determination and concern. Despite her recent ordeal, she had insisted on participating in the upcoming phase of the seal's restoration. Her friends, though worried, understood the necessity.
"We can't afford to wait any longer," Adonis said, breaking the silence. "The Collector is moving faster than we anticipated. We need to act now."
Cassius stepped forward, his brow furrowed. "We understand, but your safety is paramount. We can't risk you being exposed again."
Adonis met his gaze, her eyes unwavering. "I won't be a bystander. This is my fight too."
Before anyone could respond, a sudden gust of wind swept through the camp, extinguishing the fire in an instant. The group tensed, their senses heightened.
From the shadows emerged a figure cloaked in dark robes, its presence sending a chill down their spines. The Collector had arrived.
"You've been meddling in affairs beyond your comprehension," the Collector's voice echoed, cold and menacing. "But your interference ends tonight."
With a swift motion, the Collector raised a hand, and the ground beneath them trembled. A massive fissure opened, swallowing the group whole.
Adonis reached out, her hand brushing against Cassius's as they fell into the abyss.
"Stay close!" she shouted, her voice barely audible over the roar of the wind.
Suddenly, a blinding light enveloped them, and everything went black.
When Adonis regained consciousness, she found herself in a vast, desolate landscape. The sky was a swirling mass of dark clouds, and the ground beneath her was cracked and barren. She stood alone, her friends nowhere in sight.
"Where am I?" she whispered, her voice trembling.
A deep, guttural laugh echoed around her. "Welcome to my domain," the Collector's voice boomed. "This is where your journey ends."
Adonis's heart raced. She had to find her friends and stop the Collector before it was too late.
But as she took a step forward, the ground beneath her feet began to crumble. She stumbled, barely catching herself.
"You're too late," the Collector taunted. "The seal is already broken."
Adonis's mind raced. She had to act quickly.
With a surge of determination, she focused on the bracelet Lucas had given her. Drawing on its protective magic, she conjured a barrier around herself, stabilizing the ground beneath her.
"I won't let you win," she declared, her voice steady.
The Collector's laughter ceased. "Impressive," he said, his tone laced with mockery. "But futile."
Suddenly, the sky above her cracked open, and a massive shadow descended. The devil had arrived.
Adonis's breath caught in her throat. She had to stop it—before it was too late.
But as she prepared to face the devil, a sharp pain pierced her side. She gasped, looking down to see a dark, thorn-like vine embedded in her flesh.
"You're mine now," the Collector's voice whispered in her ear.
