Complicated

"Open your eyes. Look at me, baby."

She shook hear head, fully concentrating on just feeling.

"Why not?"

"Linds, just... later, okay?"

There wasn't much he could say right now, so he gave a small nod and gripped her hips as she moved on top of him. She stopped abruptly, as she turned around, facing the other way, his eyes staring at her back. He didn't understand why she was acting so strange, but she clearly didn't want to hear about it.

They climaxed seconds apart and he wanted to hold onto her, to pull her closer and give her a kiss, but she got off him and quickly put on her clothes. He was beyond confused now, why did she even ask him over in the first place, as he was doubting whether she wanted him here.

"What was this about?" Lindsey asked, when he got dressed. "Why wouldn't you look at me? You hardly let me touch you."

"Because I don't want to get you into any more trouble."

"Stevie, I chose to come see you and have sex with you, I wanted to. If anything I'm getting myself into trouble here."

"I want you too, but I don't want to leave anything for Kristen to find again..."

"Don't worry about it. I'll take her away for a couple of days and she'll forget all about it, I'm telling you."

"What if she won't? What if she actually opens her eyes for once and sees that it's me your fucking behind her back, while I lied straight to her face?"

"She's my problem. I'll deal with her if I need to. I won't sacrifice spending time with you out of fear of being caught cheating."

"How can you say that, Lindsey? She's your wife!"

"Aren't you doing the exact same thing? You're with someone and you still need me."

"And I hate that, I truly do. I might have gotten married years ago and had children, but I always kept thinking about you. I'm not saying I'm in love with you, but I can't get away. I still get chills when you touch me or kiss me, or tell me I'm beautiful and you show that you mean it. I want that, I can't imagine not having that. Always."

"I get those feelings too, Stevie. That's why I'm saying I don't care if Kristen finds out. I can't not have you in my life this way, I must have you in every way."

She smiled weakly, the tension easing off a little. "You do have me in a lot of different ways." She agreed, making him laugh. "So, it sounds like we're doing this because we have really incredible sex and we can't give it up? Are we that pathetic?"

"What do you think this is?"

"Us?" Lindsey nodded, she shrugged, crossing her arms over her chest. "An affair, which could hurt people that we care about a lot."

"And knowing and understanding that, you still want to keep going?"

Stevie sighed, nodding her head, feeling ashamed. "I love Jeremy and he makes me happy. I know I have a great thing going with him, he might be my healthiest relationship I've ever had. But then I remember you. It's... It's you, Lindsey."

"It's you, Stevie." He echoed her words, hugging her close, as she put her arms around him. "I'm not letting you get away from me." He pressed a kiss to her hair backing away.

"Well, it doesn't look like I want you to do that, does it?"

They stood like that, embracing each other, when Lindsey asked. "You love him, huh?"

"I told him, yeah."

"Good, that's really good. I might be insanely jealous, but you deserve a man in your life to treat you as well as he does." It pained him to say it, but he meant every word. "Hey, maybe I wasn't too far off, mentioning that wedding?"

Stevie rolled her eyes and Lindsey laughed, having expected that reaction.

Meanwhile...

At Jeremy's office, Sam, his assistant, brought in a handful of folders, setting them on Jeremy's desk. He sighed heavily, looking at the pile.

"These can wait until tomorrow." Sam said, taking a seat.

"Wonderful, it's been enough for one day already."

"If you had been showing up at work regularly, it wouldn't have taken you so long to finish working today."

"I've been very very busy lately." Jeremy leaned back into his leather chair.

"With Ms Nicks I presume?"

"Not a word about me and her to anyone, you hear me?"

"Yeah yeah, whatever. Have you spoken to Emily?"

"I saw her today actually."

"Oh?" Sam had a knowing smile on his face.

"Yeah. Can you believe I was in bed with Steph and I reached for my phone, there was a call and a text from Emily."

"And she saw it?!"

"Of course she saw it."

"Oh, man... How did you get out of it?"

"I just said I don't know any Emily, that her number isn't even saved on my phone, that there had to be some sort of mistake. And honestly, I thought I was telling the truth, because I completely forgot the woman's name." Jeremy explained, laughing. "I was pretty sure Stevie bought it. I had to reassure her again yesterday, but things are fine again."

"You're playing with fire, Jerry. Women are good at these things, she'll know something's up if she catches anything."

"It's a risk I'm willing to take."

"Well, you know better."

"I think I should call her now actually."

Stevie was laying on the couch, her legs placed over Lindsey's as they were talking about the first thing that came to mind, while they had the TV on for the background. He didn't want to go yet and she didn't want him to leave yet either. They were interrupted by her phone ringing, which made him smirk, remembering how not that long ago she swore she would never use a mobile phone.

"Hey, babe."

"Oh, hey you." She had answered without looking at the screen to see who was calling.

"How is your day going? Missing me?"

"It's alright and you know I am." It didn't really seem like it though.

"Some changes in plans, I should be back at around 7 pm."

"Oh, okay. Do you want me to cook something for you?"

"You don't have to, I'll take you out instead."

"Fine. I'll be ready at 8 pm." She chuckled and Jeremy knew this probably wasn't just a joke. "See you later."

"Mhm, I love you."

"Love you."

Lindsey was glad the conversation was over soon as he looked over at Stevie. "Is it time for me to go?"

"Sadly. He's coming back shortly."

"Okay."

She accompanied him to the door, swaying on her feet while he put his shoes on. "Did you mean it, saying you're taking Kristen somewhere?"

"I have to." He sounded almost apologetic.

"Right. Then call me when you're back?"

"You know I will."

He gave her a kiss and walked out the door. She leaned against it, breathing out heavily. Why did they need this? Why everything always had to be so complicated with them?
