It's my fault

"I'm glad we can finally enjoy each other." Lindsey said, tracing the pads of his fingers across Stevie's stomach, as they were lying on that same couch in his studio, but this once they were able to take their time and really care for the other. The couch was wide enough to fit them both, a blanket barely covering them.

"Are you sure we can be spending the day like this?"

"Yeah, Kristen said she would be coming back late tonight, it's just past 4 in the afternoon."

"We've been telling everyone how much we're working together, but I'll doubt we'll have anything to show for it!"

"Oh relax, we have three of yours and two of mine really good tracks that only require drums, bass and Christine's backing vocals."

"I'm holding you responsible for it."

"Fine by me." He shrugged, leaning down to kiss her for the nth time that day.

Kissing her lips, he nudged her bent legs apart, sliding his hand in between them. She stilled, breaking the kiss momentarily, then captured his lips again forcefully as his fingers began stimulating her still quite sensitive parts from their earlier love making. He was so gentle, acting based on how she was reacting to his touch and right now, her eyes were tightly shut, mouth slightly agape, her breathing quickening, becoming hitched, only encouraging him to continue exactly what he was doing. She felt two of his fingers easily sliding inside her as she arched her back, then bucked back, as his movements grew swifter. He knew he had her right on the edge, as he withdrew his fingers and circled her throbbing bud wildly, having her crying out his name, panting.

"If you keep up like this, I won't ever want my own man again."

"Good. I don't want him touching you, this works out perfectly."

Stevie smiled up at him, how every single mention of Jeremy, made Lindsey's blood boil. She put her hands on his face, bringing him down for a lot sweeter kiss.

"Oh my God..." The door had opened without a crack, but the voice behind them, made Stevie and Lindsey jump and separate from their embrace.

Before either one of them knew how to react, Kristen had already run back into the house, tears streaming down her face, blurring her vision. Lindsey just sat shell-shocked, staring down at the floor, hands in his hair, while Stevie had almost finished dressing up.

"Don't just fucking sit there!"

"Wha-what do I do?"

Stevie looked over at him, she knew he was truly shocked, but she needed him to snap out of it and fast. "Go, Lindsey. Go to your wife and get down on your knees, and beg her to forgive you."

"You don't have to act as if her catching us didn't affect you one bit, Steph."

"I'm not. We're so fucking screwed and I won't ever be able to face her again for as long as I live, and of course I'm terrified she'll tell Jerry, but it's way more important for you to crawl on your knees into that house right this moment."

Lindsey put his clothes back on and did as Stevie said, going to search for Kristen. It didn't take him too long, loud sobbing coming from the kitchen, as he saw her filling up a glass with water with shaking hands. Now he really felt like the biggest asshole in the whole world, but strangely enough, he didn't regret sleeping around with his famous ex.

He made himself known, letting out a deep breath, as he tried stepping closer to his wife, but she put up a hand in the air, making him know not to do so. "Where is she?"

"She's leaving."

"I want her here."

"What? Kristen, I don't think that's..."

"Get her in here, Lindsey!"

He only just went to the hallway and there was Stevie, having hoped to make an exit unnoticed. She heard the yelling in the kitchen, so seeing Lindsey, she followed him back to where Kristen was.

"Kristen, I'm so sorry..."

"Saying you're sorry won't erase all those times my husband fucked you."

"We didn't mean to hurt anyone, it sort of just... happened." Stevie couldn't think of any better explanation.

"I always knew that whatever bond there is between you, it would never break. I guessed you were sleeping together behind my back for years and years, but as long as it wasn't rubbed in my face, as wrong as it sounds, I was as okay with it as I could have been. But now... You lied to my face. You spoke to me, your voice filled with so much sympathy! You said you would keep an eye on him, while the whole time it was you! It's always been fucking YOU!"

Lindsey knew he had to do something about the scene unfolding in front of him, but what it was exactly, that he could not think of. "Don't be angry at Stevie, Kristen. It's my fault. I made the first move in this affair."

"Linds, you don't have to..." Stevie began, but was quickly cut off.

"Linds?! I don't call him that! ME!" Kristen pointed to herself. "HIS WIFE! How many times have you said, "I love you" to each other, huh? Tell me! For how long have you been seeing each other?"

"We haven't said that once, Kristen, I swear that is the truth. I'm sure it's hard to believe it, but as messed up this is and I know our actions speak differently, but I know Lindsey loves you, just like I love Jeremy. It's just that... there's always been something keeping us together in the physical way. And we only been... sleeping together for as long as it's been since Fleetwood Mac wrapped up the European tour."

"You can't even speak for yourself." Kristen spat at Lindsey, glaring at him. "I don't know why I put up with your shit..." She shook her head, another wave of emotions hitting her. "I saw the two of you together right in the beginning, I knew nothing would break you apart. Even if you're no longer in love, you still can't stop craving each other for sexual purposes. Please, do tell, Lindsey, how is she so much better? What does she do that I don't or can't? What?"

"It doesn't matter, we don't need to get into those details, Kristen." He tried to reach for her again and once more he was unsuccessful.

"You know, I do blame you for this, Lindsey. You're a married man, you're a father! You had to have wanted this badly to forget about the rest of what's important in your life."

"I think, we're both to blame." Stevie didn't want Lindsey to be the only one taking the fall for them both.

Kristen sighed heavily, shaking her head. "Just get out, please..."

"I truly am sorry." Stevie repeated again, before turning around to head for the door, knowing that her presence would only continue on making things worse. She called herself a car, as she had given Karen a day off and Jeremy was still at work, finally allowing her own tears to spill out.

Inside the house, Lindsey opened his mouth to speak, to apologize again, to do just about anything to get Kristen to forgive him, but she was quicker. "You too. I can't stand looking at you right now."
