It had been the perfect kind of day.
The skies were clear over Seoul, the early evening breeze was soft, and Ivy was in one of her sundresses—the floaty kind Felix always said made her look like a K-drama main character.
They'd escaped for a date, finally. No schedule. No stylists. No managers trailing them through coffee runs. Just the two of them, walking side by side with matching sunglasses, a shared ice cream cone, and fingers tangled like ivy vines.
They wandered through the Han River park, stopping to pet every passing puppy and giggling over the oddly shaped swan boats. Felix even tried (and failed) to win her a plushie from a claw machine at a convenience store along the way.
"Okay," she said, breathless from laughing, "you're banned from any machine that takes ₩1,000 bills."
"It's rigged!" he protested, pouting. "Besides, you said you didn't want the bear."
"I lied," she smirked.
He kissed her cheek in retaliation.
It was calm. So rare. So full of ease and sweetness that Ivy's shoulders finally dropped for the first time in weeks. She was already drafting a Bubble message in her head for later. Something like: Went on a date today. Forgot what happiness tastes like. It's mint choco, by the way.
They sat down on a grassy hill, her head on his shoulder and his arm looped around her back. Their phones buzzed at the same time.
Felix checked first. Ivy followed suit.
