Before The Whistle Blows

LEAH'S POV

I was thankful there were no more flights for the next few weeks. I sat with Keirea and Beth on the coach on the way from the airport. Sarina had stood at the front of the coach to grab all our attention, it took a moment for everyone's conversations to come to a halt and of course Lucy was the last one to realise she was waiting for us to be quiet.

"Thank you." She smiled at her, amused by Lucy's antics and not annoyed in the slightest. "As you know the next few weeks are going to be intense. There's a lot of pressure riding on you girls but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the experience. There's been a few last minute changes to the team and I hope you can all adapt to that. And welcome, Davis and show her the ropes. We're very lucky to have her." She points at Aurora who had sunk in her chair, I have a feeling she doesn't like attention. "When we get to the hotel you will go to your rooms and freshen up, have a shower, change into your whites and come down for something to eat girls." She looks at us all. "I need you all to refuel. No skipping for a nap I know you're probably all tired unless you're Tooney who is fueled on pixie sticks right now." We laugh. "But it's important you keep your bodies well fueled." She looks at me knowing I probably didn't eat much on the flight due to my fussy nature when it comes to my food choices. "Once you have eaten we will be doing a photo op at the front of the hotel and then you are free for the rest of the day to sleep, explore, whatever you want." We all nodded. "Just try to enjoy yourself. Get yourself on time girls because training starts in 3 days you don't want to be jet lagged for it. You want to be on your A game." Again we all nodded. "Room assignments. I know it sounds like you're in High school but..." She starts to hand out a piece of paper with our room numbers on and who we're in. It also had information about the hotel. Our meal times. Gym times, pool times. Different facilities. Also what was around us. We took a piece of paper and passed them back. I scanned the sheet for my name. I already knew I was going to be with Aurora because I told Sarina because she was new and I was the captain I would take her under my wing.

I had assumed that Les and Toon would be together so I knew I wasn't getting in the way of that. Which is why I have been making the point of getting to know her in preparation for this.

"You're with Davis then." Beth says with a smirk.

"Yeah." I say still reading the information sheet not looking up at her.

"You seemed cosy with her on the flight." I could practically hear the teasing in her voice, I choose not to look up at her despite finishing all the information on the sheet in front of me. I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks. I was half asleep earlier and I may have been slightly clinging to her. I couldn't help myself. "You literally told her she couldn't move." She was loving this. I kicked her under the table.

"Oh my gosh are you blushing." Kiera joined in teasing. I didn't react because if I reacted that would give them what they wanted. And I wasn't gonna do that. "You're actually blushing right now! Do you like her?" She said loudly. I kicked her too.

"Shut up!" I hissed.

"Since when?" Beth asked. "I was only teasing before." She added. "But this is real. You're actually blushing right now."

"Will you stop?" I shoot them a look. I didn't like her I was just tired and it was nice to actually be calm on a flight for once. And they're getting me all flustered and they're being loud in such a small space and the girls are like vultures here. If someone thinks someone likes someone thats it they won't drop it.

"Just admit it."

"She is pretty."

"Who's pretty?" Jordan slips in the open seat beside me. I look over at her. Beth gives her a look and shuffles in her seat and Keira gives Beth a warning look, telling her to play nice with our teammate. "Come on... Share share."
