Long Lost Salvatore. (The Vampire Diaries)

Hey guys, i know this is a pretty short chapter and such a late update but i've been sooo busy. I've only got five more chapters left of this book before i'll be starting book 2, the date in this chapter isn't the exact date that the chapter will be written, due to how busy i am i'm not 100% if it will be way before that date or after i just needed a date! But i'm hoping to update as much as i can in my free time so just bare with me.

''What are you doing here?'' Klaus sighs opening the front door of his mansion. I ignore his question, pushing past him and walking further into the house before he could slam the door in my face. It had been a few days since the engagement, the spell breaking and more importantly, since the last time i saw klaus. I knew by now he would have heard about the engagement and i knew it was time to face him. ''Come on in.'' he grumbles, closing the door behind me. I stand in the middle of the living area, waiting for him to walk into the room. ''I'll ask again.'' he says. ''What are you doing here?''

''We need to talk.''

''I disagree.'' he tells me. ''I have nothing to say to you.'' i smiled slightly at the bitterness dripping in his voice. ''I've heard enough.''

''You haven't heard anything from me.'' i tell him.

''I don't need to.'' he shakes his head. ''I know everything, Rebekah told me everything.'' his voice, this time, was calm. I looked at him, his expression soft. ''The only thing i wish is that you were the one who told me. The both of you.''

''So you could have daggered him again?''

''I want you to be happy.'' his words made me stumble slightly.

''Why are you being so kind about this?'' he blinked at my question. ''Why aren't you shouting? Why aren't you telling me that it's not going to happen?''

''Is that what you want? An excuse?''

''No.'' i shake my head. ''I just want you to prove that you still care.'' my voice broke.

''I have to be honest with you.'' he tells me. ''To hear you think that i don't care, it's hilarious. I've never not cared about you.'' he shakes his head. ''I think of you all the time, in the morning, in the night, in the middle of the day, and seeing you standing before me, so broken, so sad when this should be the happiest time of your life, it breaks my heart.'' i took a deep breath as he closed the space between us. His eyes softened as he took my face in his hands. ''I've done this to you, such a beautiful girl like you shouldn't be this sad, You don't deserve to fear someone like me, you deserve so much more, you deserve the life Kol can give you.'' i closed my eyes, taking a breath. ''I love you Elizabeth, that's no secret but i know and have always known that as soon as Kol came back there was no chance for me. What you have with him is something i can only dream of.''

''Me and Kol are getting married.'' i whisper to him. ''I've come here today to ask for your blessing. I know how you feel and nothing hurts me more than to know i'm breaking your happiness for my own but there's something you've taught me in life, in order to find your happiness you have to continue living, through the bad times and eventually, in the end you'll find your happiness, i've found mine, it's with Kol, Klaus, your happiness is on the horizon too and as much as i hate to say it i believe your happiness is a little blonde vampire that goes by the name of Caroline.'' he shakes his head. ''I know how you feel about her, i know that you like her and that your feelings for me were blocking them out but i'm telling you to go for her. To let me go and allow yourself to be happy.''

''I wish i could just erase my feelings for you Elizabeth, i really do, i wish i didn't like you as much as i do and i just i could forget it all because it's too late and i often find myself thinking about how things could have been and it's hurting. But you're right, the feelings i have for you have been blocking the ones for Caroline because there was always a flicker of hope inside of me that shined every time you were near me, every time you smiled at something i said but how could you ever love me after everything i've done to you? i'm a monster Elizabeth, you're friends and family are right about that, but i can't be a monster now. I have to allow you to be happy and if that's with Kol then i'm going to accept it.'' he nods. ''I give you my blessing.''
