Passing by the Halves

Welcome to the first chapter/page-- thing .-. Wow, okay it's been years since I've written a story but Okie dokie!

At the age of 17, you don't really get excited for school. But I am! Haha! First day of school is always the best! An opportunity to meet the new people and stuff.

At Burman High School, it's not your normal first day.

First day of school is just a free day to get yourself to know where your classes are following what subject, and you can make new friends along the way.

So I woke up, stumbled out of bed and quickly got into the bathroom so I can take a nice cold shower. Yes, I like to shower in cold water. Deal. Afterwards, I dried my hair and brushed my teeth 3 times.

I yawned and dressed up into my already prepared outfit which was on my desk. I wore a grey sweater and black skinny jeans with red converse shoes. The final touch is my one and only beige cat beanie.

After looking over myself at the mirror more than 6 times, I grabbed my red crimson bag and rushed downstairs to the sound of a sizzling pan with bacon. Mmmm.

I tossed my bag on the couch next to a sleepy Avion and I quickly picked him up and tossed him over my right shoulder. 

"Gotcha you little devil!" 

Avii laughed and squirmed in my arms as I carried him to the kitchen to sit him down on the table. "Stay." He crossed his little arms across his chest and I laughed, walking over to Andrew.

Since he was cooking, I assumed mom went out to work already as dad sleeps in their room.

I grabbed the plate of ready made breakfast and pulled myself up to sit on the counter near Drew.

"Morning doof."

"Morning Dork."

"Jock."

"Nerd."

He rolled his eyes after he called me a nerd and laughed. 

"You are the worst at come-backs Ana." 

"Well you're the worst at cooking." 

Just as I was about to dig in, Drew took the plate from my grasp.

"Drewww, give me. "

"I wouldn't want to poison my little sis."

"I'msorryaboutsayingthat - youarethebestcookalive"

He returned the plate and I quickly devoured the food as he gently pats my head.

I looked up at the clock and my eyes instantly widened at the time. I cursed under my breath and left the plate on my counter as I ran to grab my bag. I ran out the front door to see a red Camry and an impatient Cedric in the driver's seat.

"Come on Ana!"

"Alrighty!" I quickly blew a kiss towards my house and ran to seat myself in the passenger's seat.

The car ride, as usual, was just me and Cedric talking and singing along to whatever song we knew from the radio.

We were so distracted, we didn't know we were 20 MINUTES LATE FOR FIRST PERIOD.

As soon as Ced parked his car in the school's parking lot, we proceeded to swiftly exit the car, speed-walk to our lockers, shove our books in and make it silently and gracefully to our first period class room.

Here's how it really went --

Ced jumped out of of the car first and got his arm tangled in the seat belt as I stumbled out and fell flat on the ground. I quickly grabbed my bag and ran over to help Cedric free himself from the evil clutches of his leather enemy.

After that, we rushed to where our lockers were and tried to enter in the combination. Our lockers being next to each other, we realized we were at each others' lockers; so we quickly switched and shoved the books we didn't need into our lockers proceeding to run towards our first period class.

- Only to discover Mr. Henderson and one other student were the only ones there.

I looked at the time and sighed, completely forgetting the fact that class started half an hour later than usual on the first day. We had 10 minutes to spare and a guy was asleep on my desk.

Our desks were basically just long, clean wooden tables with three chairs each table. Me and Ced always sit in the table which is positioned in the back-center of the class. We sit on both ends. Me on the left; Ced on the right; no one in the middle.

I walked up to him and stood there, looking down at the guy with light, dirty-blond hair and a grey sweater. Following the grey sweater were grey jeans and red converse shoes. I liked his style, since it's almost exactly like mine.

I tapped his shoulder lightly and he looked up at me sleepily. "Hello. I'm Anais Burke, and you're on my seat." He smiled and quickly stood up.

"Sorry about that-- Michael Holmes."

"Oh. Like the great Sherlock Holmes?"

"I'm a far off descendant."

"Sherlock exists?!" Cedric looked at us from his seat in amazement.

"Told you!" I laughed and quickly sat down.

I made a decision to sit in the middle so Michael can sit back down. It's about time to welcome someone new to our little group. Speaking of little group- I took out my cellphone and quickly started to text Trevor Grimmlock. My Aromate.

Soon as I was busy texting away, two big strong arms hug me in my seat. The faint scent of "Guilty" cologne was in the air. I smiled and stood up to hug a guy in a black shirt, jeans and shoes with a dog tag that has the letter "A" on it.

"I missed you Ana."

"I missed you too Trevor."

I hugged him as tightly as I could before more students start to flood into the class. Trevor sat down in front of me and soon a swarm of girls surrounded the four of us. I can tell why they liked each of them.

Cedric's good looks.

Trevor's muscle.

Michael's English accent.

I have a bit of an English accent as well, I just try my best to avoid guys' attention.

Soon it was lunch, and me, Cedric and Trevor were running from a crowd of Freshman girls. I saw Michael running as well and I decided to drag him along with us.

Geez, when did we become bait? Girls pretty much only chased me to either be "friends" to get closer to the guys or to try to bully me one way or the other. My option was RUN LIKE BLOODY HELL.

Soon enough, we lost them in the parking lot and we got into Cedric's car.

Luckily, it didn't take long to convince Michael to come with us to the Daring Diner.

So, of course- to the Daring Diner!
