A faint, steady beeping echoes in a room.
David....
People are yelling, talking, murmuring.
David.......
The room is bright white as I open my eyes to see a man yelling at a woman, his grey eyes filled with anger as the woman's blue eyes were filled with terror. "D-da..." My throat was dry, it hurt to talk and move my lips. Everything hurts.
What happened?...
David.....
Where's David?....

A week before the Banquet, David and I were in the Music room afterschool.
"So, Davi-"
"Dave. Say it with me. Daaaaveeee."
"Okay. Dave. What theme colour should we use? Before you say anything, all we've been doing for the past weeks were goofing off and practicing our duet."
"And?"
"And we need decorations."
"Oh. Right. Hmm. Black and red is a nice mix."
"Hmm, yeah. Oo, mix in some hints of lavender and it is perfect."
"Alrighty. We'll get the stuff today and decorate tomorrow. Then we know what exactly to do for our duet."
I nodded in agreement and followed him to his car outside.
Soon enough we finally got to buy all the decorations we needed. And by we I meant I had to pay for everything. We both goofed around in the store so we took longer than expected, it was 6PM and it's getting a bit dark.
After half an hour dragging David to his car, we were on our way to my house. He just needed to drop me off at home with the decorations. Which was hard because of the arm loads of materials we "needed".
I said my last goodbye to David before he left and I turned around to see an angry woman. Shit. I cleared my throat and held up the bags of decorations we bought.
"Anais Evangeline Burke. It is Half an hour past your curfew." She pointed to the wall clock and she was correct. 7:30 PM
"Sorry mum, me and David were-"
"No more excuses. You always hang out with boys."
"It's not like I'm dating them. They're just friends."
"Cedric is fine, other boys- no. Why can't you be a normal teenage girl and be with other girls, going to the mall, dressing up, wearing make up? Look at you. Wearing that old grey jumper and ripped jeans, not to mention your untamable hair, and look at your face...."
At that time I already walked upstairs to my room, locking the door. I plugged in my headsets to my phone and put them on, making sure I can't hear anyone knocking on the door.
I'm so tired of listening to the same thing everyday. Girls should do this... Girls should do that... Fuck that. I do what makes me feel like me. A girl in my own way.
I was on the floor of my room, double checking the stuff I bought. Streamers, blank banner, paint, balloons, ribbons, table cloth, inflatable balls to toss around, candles, plastic vases and flowers, lights and.. that's about it. "Awesome."
I looked at the time. 10:30 PM Wow, it's late. I just laid back on my chair and fell sound asleep with the faint sound of tapping through the music.
