Disclaimer: I only own a couple of characters who are my OCs and the plot but the book series belongs to the amazing Cassandra Clare.

****Chapter 1
Clary closed her eyes as she flung herself off the beam that was at least 20 feet off the ground in an attempt to execute a couple of mid air flips.
"You can do it!" She heard her boyfriend, Jace Herondale/Lightwood yell from the crowd of students who were in their PE uniforms waiting, watching her.
"Hopefully!" Isabelle, Jace's sister added beside him, making the blonde give her a disapproving look.
"Well that's really encouraging, Iz," he said, his voice having that signature sarcastic tint to it.
"Are you guys sure that thing's safe?" Simon asked the two shadow hunters as he eyed his redheaded bestfriend with concern.
"If she's truly a shadowhunter, she'll survive it. Besides, she has to... For her grade," Izzy told their immortal companion almost as dismissively as she would have told a mundane.
"Have a little faith, will you Vampire?" Jace said in a somewhat cross between irritation and teasing.
Simon grunted and he suddenly found himself thinking how much he would have enjoyed it if it was Jace up there falling to his almost-certain-death instead of Clary, though he highly doubted that the former would quiver as much as the latter is now.
Deciding it was better to keep shut than to continue conversing with Jace, he shut his mouth and focused his attention on his bestfriend who was almost freefalling to the ground.
As much as he wanted to notice somethinghe could compliment on, he had to admit that Clary was as graceful as-
She's as graceful as Jace is weak, he thought.
She managed to execute -though not without struggling- a couple of flips but screamed like she was being burnt alive.
"Way to keep your cool, Fra-" he muttered under his breath but cut himself off as he remembered that she was never really a Fray to begin with. "Morgenstern." He corrected himself.
The flexible wire around Clary's waist reached it's limit and suspended her 4 feet above her audience.
She opened her eyes and saw that everyone was staring at her."Umm how'd I do?" She nervously asked though she was sure that the feedback she was about to get was anything but pretty.
"Well on the bright side, you managed to actually do the task and not hurt yourself in the process," their instructor said, looking up at her suspended form.
"And that's good right?" Clary asked, a few of her red strands falling over her face.
"In a way, yes. Though I expected more from Valentine and Jocelyn's daughter," Amatis said, tucking her pen in her ear.
Clary frowned at the statement. Valentine and Jocelyn Fairchild Morgenstern's daughter had always been, in some way, a sort of title and a curse she had to live with. Her father, Valentine Morgenstern is one of the best Shadowhunters that ever existed while her mother, Jocelyn Fairchild is apparently one of the best rune drawers of the present. To say that Clary felt the pressure was an understatement.
But though they were the best individually, their marriage wasn't all that. Her parents got into a divorce when she was young, about 7 years old because her father was very determined to make their children the best they could be while her mother on the other hand wanted to retire from Shadowhunting and wanted them to live the mundane way, which her father clearly didn't approve of. Their divorce caused her mother to bring her to the mundane world and strip her of her shadowhunter memory but a year ago, she accidentally met Jace and the Lightwoods on her birthday and things sorta went crazy from there.
"I-I get it," she answered.
"Jace!" Amatis yelled, causing the said blonde to raise his eyebrow.
"Yeah?"
"Get her down," Amatis instructed before adding "Class dismissed"
"So what would you say if I just cut that wire for ya?" He asked as he crossed his arms while looking at the redhead who hovered over him.
"I'd say you're doing me a huge favor," she answered.
Chuckling, Jace got a seraph blade from his belt and cut the wire that was holding her up. Clary screamed and shut her eyes as she waited for the impact ofthe cold floor to hit her, bit instead of the floor, she found herself in a pair of muscular arms. She opened her eyes and found Jace smiling at her.
"Did that scare you?" He asked with a smirk causing her to roll her eyes at him.
"Not a bit. Screaming is just a reflex thingy I do," she answered and ordered him to put her down.
"Anyway, I'm gonna go take a shower," she told him as she ran to catch up with Isabelle.

"You could have done worse," Simon told her trying to cheer her up. "I mean, you could have kicked your own head, or spun out of control or lost consciousness or fainted on your way down. There a billion worst case scenarios but what happened earlier during gym was obviously not one of those."
Clary sighed. She was really grateful that for some strange reason the Clave made it so that downworlders and shadowhunters attended the same school, Accords Academy. (A/n: I'm sorry but I couldn't think of anything else)
"Yeah I see your point. But that doesn't change the fact that I humiliated myself infront of the entire freshman year," she reasoned, slamming her locker shut before looking at her undead bestfriend.
"Everyone does something they wanna bury their head for. Trust me," he said as he draped his arm over her shoulder.
"Hands off, Vampire," a sudden yet awfully familiar voice said behind them.
"Ahh yes, the devil himself," Simon sighed, turning around to see Jace walking towards them.
Simon removed his arm from his shoulder and watched as Jace replaced it with his."I'm not even gonna begin to say how insulting that is to us Nephilim, considering we have angel blood running through our veins," he said before giving Clary a kiss on the forehead, making the said redhead blush.
Though he wasn't head over heels inlove with her now and he liked seeing his bestfriend happy, he still had to fight the urge to throw up on the spot whenever any public displays of affection were shared between the two.
"Bwuek! Gross," he fake vomited and didn't even bother hiding his feigned disgust.
"Geez, jealous much?" Jace teased, pulling Clary closer.
Simon just rolled his eyes and looked away as they started walking down the hallway."How you faring?" Clary asked Simon as she opened her locker.
"Pretty good actually, I should ask you. You know, since you're the one who's.. Umm, how do I say 'just scraping through all your subjects' without offending you?" He answered, looking almost guilty for pointing out the obvious.
"Um.. I could do better," she gave him a sheepish smile before Jace cleared his throat.
"Ehem! Still here by the way," he fake coughed, making the two friends laugh just as Isabelle and her brother, Alec caught up to them.
"Clary, Hodge wants to see you," Alec said.
"Hodge? As in the Principal?" Clary asked incredulously, only to receive a nod from Alec.
"Yup"
