"Happy third independence day, pretty boy," Magnus said, entering the Institute, earning a glare from the blond.

"You better thank the Angel you're Alec's boyfriend," he snarled.

"Death threats again?" Alec asked, walking into the room with Max and Izzy, each carrying their luggage.

"Not a complete morning without it," Jace joked, closing his suitcase.

The New York Academy was having a field trip to Idris for 4 days, and everyone was in a buzz over it. Especially those who've only heard about it.

They walked out of the institute together, since they were portaling to Idris at the Academy.

"I hate traveling through portal," Max said, carrying Church in his arms. The cat wouldn't allow them to go without him, even going as far as jumping on their backs and peeing on their shoes whenever they were about to leave him, but he would only allow either Magnus or Max carry him.

        Jace laughed.

"Clary would agree with you on that," he said.

He had eventually accepted that he would not be seeing her for a while, probably never again, but he still missed her sometimes. Izzy and Alec went and talked to Jocelyn and Luke a few months after Clary got kicked out of the Academy, asking where she and Simon were because they wanted to invite them over for a movie night since they haven't hung out in a while.

Jocelyn and Luke just looked at each other before telling them that Clary and Simon couldn't go.

"Huh? Why? Just because they both go to a mundane school now, doesn't mean we're not friends anymore," Alec had said as they sat on the sofa.

Jocelyn just shook her head sadly at that time, and Luke spoke for her.

"Who said they go to a mundane school?" He asked.

        Alec turned red.

"Sorry, I just thought that...well, you know," he apologized.

"By the way, where are they anyway? Can we see them?" Izzy asked, changing the topic.

"I'm afraid you can't," Jocelyn said.

"Are they that mad at us?" Izzy asked, her voice dripping with guilt.

"No! Well, not you or Alec or Magnus, especially not Max," the redheaded mother said, it sometimes struck Izzy how much she just looked like an older version of Clary.

"Just at Jace, then?" Alec asked.

"I wouldn't call it mad," Luke said. "She's just been hurting, and we don't really know how she's doing now
        "What do you mean?"

        "She left. Both of them."

At first, he hadn't known what to think about the fact that Simon went with her. He was jealous of the Jew when he first he saw them together, but eventually came to accept that they were always a package deal and even learned that wherever Clary went, Simon was never far behind and vice versa. He just didn't think that they would actually run away together.
