[Lapis' POV]
"This is it, Lapis. We're almost there. I need to get you back in your cell, Jasper'll be here as soon as she sees we're approaching Earth. I'll just–" Peridot hit a few buttons. "There, now– quick." She untied me, fingers fumbling on the knots. "Come on." I followed Peridot as she clanked down the corridor. Her fingerscreen was open as she walked and she barely looked back to see if I was following her. I was silent, worrying. Was Steven going to be there? Would I get in trouble for not telling about him? Would I be shattered? Would Steven get injured? What would happen? I was back in my cell before I knew it and Peridot was heading back to the control room, wishing me luck and telling me to please behave around Jasper. I nodded.
The moment Peridot was gone I sank to the floor of my cell, moaning. My mind raced in an endless circle: Earth – Steven – hurt – Jasper – broken – shattered – mirror – Earth... The past and future combined themselves into one great horrifying picture, combining, mixing, confusing. I couldn't concentrate. I didn't want to concentrate. But I knew I had to be composed, so I could deal with Jasper, with Steven.
As the ship neared Earth, my worries overwhelmed me. I fought them back, but it was no use. Please let Steven be safe... please let Peridot be safe... please let me be safe...
[Peridot's POV]
After I left Lapis, I tried to push all thoughts of her into the corner of my mind. I had to focus on piloting the ship. I arrived, turned the ship off of the half-autopilot I had activated earlier, and checked everything one last time. This was going to be tricky.
Jasper came into the control room. "Not now Jasper," I snapped. "I need to focus!" Jasper grunted.
"Alright. I'll go get the prisoner so we can see what's going on out there and use her for ransom if we have to." I was barely paying attention, just nodding. "Open the cell door for me will you? I won't injure her until after the mission, but the brat needs some rough handling." I drew open my touchscreen regretfully. Lapis would have to understand: I was the only one who could work the ship. Jasper was the only one who could go get her.
"It's open," I said. "Now leave." We were entering the atmosphere, the whole ship was shaking slightly... Giant bolts of power struck the ship, but the ship was well-built: nothing happened. Everything was shaking, trembling, the impact was incoming... At the last moment before we struck the Earth's surface, I slowed the ship down. It stopped just a little above the water. Come on, come on, come on... There. Everything was ready.
[Lapis' POV]
"Hurry, you little wimp," Jasper said, pulling me by the arm. I wriggled but couldn't get loose. The ship was shaking, shaking, shaking, and Jasper was yanking me along behind her... and then Jasper stopped, and I found myself in front of the control room. The ship stopped shaking moments after Jasper stopped walking, and then Peridot came stomping out of the control room. She didn't look at me, just nodded curtly at Jasper and told her to let go of my arm.
"The prisoner will follow us without it," she told her coldly. Jasper released my arm, and I rubbed my wrist gingerly. The orange gem was very rough. I hated her.
Peridot led us to a spot in the center of the ship. Everything was going so fast; I had no idea where I was... Something beeped, and then a circular pod appeared around us; then suddenly we were rising up, outside the ship, and the pod rolled somewhere and then fell open and boom, I felt myself dropping down...
Then everything came into focus as Jasper gestured to me to come forward. Peridot was the first to look down; I wasn't far behind her. The three Crystal Gems were standing on the beach, looking fierce; behind them was– oh no. Steven was here.
