Chapter 4

"Y/n? Y/n, come in" I forgot we had the walkie-talkie and turned the sound up a little higher.

"Y/n here. How is Derek?"

"He's fine but I tried to talk to group one and no one is replying" Shit I say under my breathe.

"Do you want us to come and get you two just in case something happens?"

"No with Derek's leg he won't be much use-" I then heard Derek saying that he wasn't useless he could still crawl fight. Olivia than took the walkie-talkie from me

"Mike you need to make sure that he doesn't move much and Derek you stupid idiot I love you" with that she switched off the walkie-talkie.

"Oh how sweet" Alex says with disgust in his voice.

"Alright Alex was is your deal? If you're going to be like this then I need you to shut up or go back because down here it's fight or flight and usually both get you killed unless you know how the Wendigo's work"

"Blah, blah, blah" he just keeps walking, Olivia and I looked at each other with irritation.

"Hopefully we can feed him to the Wendigo's" Olivia whispers

"I don't think they'll want him he smells pretty nasty". We just silently giggle and keep walking.

We all decided that we needed to go to the east side of the mines to check out what is going on with group one. With every step we take the surrounding seems to get more ominous. As we started to near the east side of the mines we could hear movement but not ordinary foot steps or breathing, it was more like something or things were jumping around from wall to wall. Knowing what it was I grabbed Olivia and stood near the walls and told her to stay perfectly still and not to move until I say so.

Alex though didn't pick up on it and took out his gun and kept walking, I was going to tell him to stay moving and to stay still but it was too late five of the Wendigo's had seen him move and was attacking him. I slowly put my arm in front of Olivia so if anything she wouldn't get attacked my arm would. They ripped him to pieces and started to eat him, his screams filled the mines, I closed my eyes not wanting to see it. The Wendigo's finish eating and start walking our way but make no indication that they saw us. They get extremely close that I have to hold me breathe just in case, one of the Wendigo's come over and starts sniffing the wall that we stood. It stopped and started screeching at us

"NO!" Josh had pushed the Wendigo and put himself in front of us. Two of them started to attack him but he was smarter than them and found ways to rip off their heads. Olivia fumbled for her knife but a lighter fell out of her pocket. I quickly grabbed it and flicked it, the flame turned on and I ripped apart of my shirt and lit it on fire. I threw it on the ground near the other Wendigo's and luckily there was some sort of fuel cause it started the fire. Though when it lite up the mines I saw explosives near the Wendigo's. The other three took off running,

"Olivia RUN!" she saw the explosives and took off running, she was pretty fast which was good and Josh threw the remainders of the Wendigo's in the fire and grabbed me bridal style and ran at his inhumanly speed.

The explosives went off and Josh took cover behind some rocks. I closed my eyes and hung onto his shirt he laid us down and was on top of me so that if the fire did explode by us he would be taking the heat and not I. The explosion soon ended and Josh was still on top of me, I opened my eyes but he had buried his face in my shirt so that I wouldn't see him.

I didn't care what he looked like what mattered was that he was safe and alive. I wiggled my hand between his face and my shirt and grabbed his chin. I tried to lift his head but he didn't let me, he didn't want me to see what had happened to him.

"Josh, please let me see your face I want to know if you're hurt" he just shock his head and kept his face buried into my shirt. So I held my breathe I could feel Josh tense upon feeling that I stopped breathing and quickly looked up to see me looking at him and holding my breathe. I let out a breathe and put my hand on his cheek. His lips were cracked probably from being dry and his mouth was a bit open. His teeth were more sharp and separated but that was the only thing that was different. He still had the warm and comforting look in his eyes, I started to stroke his cheek and Josh tried to pull away but I wouldn't let him.

"Josh I'm so glad that you're alive!" I pulled him in for a kiss at first he was really hesitant but soon started to kiss back. It was a kiss that we both longed for, a passionate kiss that could go on forever. He pulled away and looked into my eyes, I knew that he could tell that I wasn't scared but I could feel the tears welling up in my eyes and I started to cry.

"Y/n don't cry I know I shouldn't have eaten people-"

"That's not why I'm crying. I'm crying because you're alive" I said between sobs. We both sat up and Josh pulled me into a bear hug, I clung to him like he did when we he was having his episodes.

"I knew you would find me"
